Komphela left his role at Mamelodi Sundowns to take up the head coach post with the Dube Birds.

His team have enjoyed a promising start to the new campaign, winning four out of eight games played to sit in fourth place on the DStv Premiership standings.

Komphela admits that it will take time for his Swallows side to be a finished product but he hopes he is given the time to fully implement his plans.

The coach said on FARPost: “We were talking about first we have to be tested. To be trusted and I think we’ve passed the test. Are we trusted? To an extent yes.

“After testing and trusting, there’s an element of confidence. Are people confident in what we’re doing?

“When we build from the back people were still sitting at the edges of the chairs but then they started believing because it started to show. So there is confidence.”

Komphela added: “Now we need to move to a level of belief, where we say irrespective the outcome of the match there’s a strong belief that these people are capable to win matches.

“We need to get to the level of belief. The minute we are in belief then faith will come over time.”
