Race 4

There are two unraced runners in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether either of the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for either, or both, should be respected. Of the raced runners, SOLVERE may prove to be the best. He goes for his hat-trick after two victories over six furlongs, the latest by a half-length, when returning from a 13-week rest and a change of trainers. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but nevertheless, the trio is very much on the cards.

ADRETT is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over 1100M, just over two lengths back from the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She has an even wider gate fourteen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

LESCOT has consistent formlines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a second place finish next time out over six furlongs, just a head back from the winner. He struck the front at the top of the home straight in that event, only to be snared in the shadow of the post.

Race 5

The day’s value bet, COUNT NICHOLAS followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a fourth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 1.4L back from the winner, but he was hampered at the start and overraced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages, before staying on well over the closing stages. The gelding gets a handy draw four and will be hoping to chalk up his third career victory today.

OH NO MIKKI was returning from an 18-week break when making solid improvement to win his last start over five furlongs by a half-length. He was held up at the entrance to the home stretch and then had to weave his way through traffic in the dash down to the wire, so that effort was encouraging. The gelding is drawn one inside the top choice and should be right up there when they hit the line.

PUERTO RICO showed plenty of toe and was returning from a longer 23-week spell when finishing second in his latest outing over five furlongs, just a head off the winner. The gelding has pulled gate six and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

INDIRA is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when third over seven furlongs, just under a half-length behind the winner. She came four wide into the home straight on that occasion and was hampered at the 50M mark. The resultant objection lodged by her connection for that interference was however overruled and the original result stood. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but with better luck in running, she will be looking to make amends today and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

TESTING THE CUGAT tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in third spot last time out over ten furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner. He returns from a 36-week spell but has finished fourth in his only barrier trial and from draw seven, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

MISS WHITE is a 4-year-old filly who was slow away and held up in the home straight when finishing seventh last time out over seven furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner. She gets a useful gate three and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

GIN O’CLOCK has run four times, yielding a second first time out, followed by a win over seven furlongs and then disappointed in his next two starts, the latest also over seven furlongs, 9.1L adrift of the victor, but he had to be eased over the closing stages, so he did have an excuse. He has his peak run after returning from a just under two years spell and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them. The gelding could provide the trainer/jockey combination of Ben, Will and Jd Hayes and Mark Pegus with their second winner in the day’s Jackpot, should the top pick win the second leg.

DENARAU is a 5-year-old mares coming up against males, but she has posted two encouraging last starts, the latest over seven furlongs, just a head behind the winner. She was returning from a shorter 49-week spell and a change of trainers that day and battled all the way down to the wire. She has her peak run here and from her cosy draw two, she should give the boys a good run for their money.

TALLINGAS PRINCE has cracked pole position and won over a mile three runs back, finished fifth in his penultimate start over 1900M and then sixth in his latest outing over 1500M, just over four lengths behind the winner, when returning from a 22-week rest. She made good late progress in that event and should not be easily disregarded.
