Race 4

PULL THE TAIL is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she won over five furlongs three runs back and then finished second in her next two outings over the same sprint trip, the latest when just a half-length behind the winner, but she raced three wide up with the leaders that day, only to be nabbed in the shadow of the post. Her jockey also dropped his crop that day, so she might just have won that event. She jumps from gate five and will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

ZAKOR is drawn one inside the top choice and also won over five furlongs three runs back, but then finished sixth in his penultimate start over the same trip and then fourth in his latest outing over the very same journey, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. The gelding will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and could emerge as the biggest threat to the former.

ACOTANGO has cracked pole position and raced wide without cover throughout when ending up in seventh place last time out over five furlongs, 4.7L adrift of the victor when returning from a 26-week break. He has finished sixth in a subsequent barrier trial and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

STOCK THE ROSE put his disappointing penultimate start over 2100M behind him when finishing second next time out when dropping down to six furlongs, just a head back from the winner. He was having his first run for his new trainer that day and was hampered at the 100M mark, so that effort was encouraging. The gelding will have to overcome a wide draw fourteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

BRAIDED GOLD is a 3-year-old filly taking on males and has only had two runs to date, finishing fourth on debut over 1100M and then showing the expected improvement to finish third next time out over six furlongs, 1.3L off the winner. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and she would have come on further with that run under her belt. The filly has pulled gate seven and will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

NIGHT FIGHTER is the only unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that he can win first time out. He has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest and any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, VIS I DO’S last three runs have yielded a second and two third place finishes, the latest over seven furlongs, just over five and a half lengths behind the winner, but he was crowded at the start that day, finding himself towards the rear of the field, but then made good late progress over the closing stages. From gate five and with better luck in running, he looks to be the one that they all must beat, to give jockey Ben Looker a quick double.

MANGOOLA disappointed in his penultimate run over a mile, but then finished third last time out over six furlongs, just over a length behind the winner, when having his first run for his new trainer and returning from a 38-week spell. He lost a length at the start in that event and was forced to come the widest into the home straight from some way back and then hang in all the way down to the wire, so he had his excuses. The gelding jumps from a useful gate three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

TWENTYEIGHTDRAGONS has consistent formlines for his new trainer, the latest a fourth-place finish over 1300M, just a length off the winner. He battled all the way down to the wire in that contest and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, on the plus side, he will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 7

EVERYLITTLE BREEZE is a 4-year-old filly taking on boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over five furlongs, just a length back from the winner, having raced three wide without cover. She was having her first run for her new trainer that day and returning from a 35-week spell, but the form of that race has been franked. She gets a wideish gate eight, but she should turn in another honest effort today.

MR TRACKSIDE raced just behind the leaders and was only collared late when finishing second in his latest outing over 1100M, just a length behind the winner. The colt has pulled draw six and will be hoping to go one better here.

JO JO SUN had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over five furlongs, albeit by just a neck. He stayed on well that day and will be having his peak run here after returning from a 17-week absence. The gelding will put his pole position to good use and should be included in all bets.
