Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star Teboho Mokoena, who enjoyed a stellar Africa Cup of Nations, is reportedly attracting interest from overseas clubs, with Premier League side Bournemouth, French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco and Egyptian giants Al Ahly all reportedly interested in his services.

Mokoena, who has a long-term deal with Sundowns, is represented by veteran football agent Glyn Binkin, who said a move abroad would be highly beneficial for the creative midfielder.

“There’s obviously been a lot of speculation around the players because of their success in the tournament. But all players have long-term contracts at their clubs.

“Any interested party would have to engage with their respective clubs to see if they would be prepared to sell the players.

“Obviously we’re hopeful that the clubs would be reasonable and give the players an opportunity to play football at the highest level abroad. That’s up to the clubs, but we’re sure that common sense will prevail.

“Although there’s lots of speculation and rumours from the Premier League and other top European leagues, as well as Al Ahly in Egypt, any interested party would have to engage, first and foremost with the club and thereafter they would contact us as his agents to see if there is interest and how we can move forward.”

The DStv Premiership resumes on Friday after the conclusion of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

SuperSport United welcome Stellenbosch to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday at 19:30.

Then the match of the weekend sees title rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates do battle at Loftus Versveld Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
