NEWS: Willard Katsande joins Crystal Lake to pursue coaching career post retirement

Retired former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has joined the Crystal Lake FC technical team as he pursues a move into coaching post retirement.

The 38-year-old called time on his career in 2022 while with Sekhukhune United. He made over 300 appearances during his time in the South Africa top flight, but has opted to drop down to the SAFA Enhlazeni Regional League to impart his experience on a new generation of players. Crystal Lake announced themselves to the wider South African football fraternity by making it to the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup, where they only only lost 6-0 to Orlando Pirates. The club posted on their social media accounts: "Crystal Lake FC welcomes the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard (Salt & Vinegar) Katsande to the Technical Team." Having only been establised last year, Crystal Lake are already fighting for promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. They are currently in fifth place in the SAFA Enhlazeni Regional League standings; 11 points behind current league leaders Liver Brothers FC.

The 38-year-old called time on his playing career back in 2022 while at DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United.

The Zimbabwean made over 300 appearances during his time in the South African top-flight. He has now assumed a role with the SAFA Enhlazeni Regional League outfit.
