Reacting to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers draw where Bafana were pitted against Uganda, Congo and South Sudan in Group K, Broos said he is satisfied with the pool.

“When I look at our group for AFCON qualifiers 2025 in Morocco, I think I can be satisfied with the draw, but also very careful,” Broos said.

“We have Uganda, who are a very powerful team that is very difficult to play against. So, I think we have to achieve our best level.

“Secondly, we have Congo, and Congo are more of a technical team and very dangerous when they play at home. There also again, we need to have very good performances.

“And lastly, South Sudan for me is a completely unknown team. It will be very important to analyse the opponents well so that we don’t lose too many points against them.”

After their excellent display during the previous AFCON finals in Ivory Coast where Bafana finished third, Broos said they are looking to maintain that level and do even better.

“When we look at our performance in Africa from the beginning of this year in Ivory Coast where we achieved a bronze medal and also in the following games, I think we can be very confident,” Broos said.

“It will be important to achieve our good level of the last month and from this group, we have to qualify for 2025 AFCON.”

The qualifiers will start in September 2024 and end in November 2024.

To book their place in the continental showpiece scheduled for 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, SA need to finish in the top two of their group.

Being ranked as the 10th best side in Africa, Bafana are favourites to clinch the top spot in the group standings.
