Hunt is known for his ability to nurture players and facilitate their progression to international football and has a notable track record.

The 60-year-old has been instrumental in the careers of several prominent players, such as Benni McCarthy, Bongani Khumalo, Siboniso Gaxa, and Phakamani Mahlambi, to name a few.

Most recently, Shandre Campbell has made the leap to Europe, signing with Belgian side Club Brugge, continuing Hunt’s legacy of developing players for the global stage.

“Since I have started coaching, I will always coach players to play in Europe,” Hunt told Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador Robert Marawa on 947.

“There is a big difference to play in South Africa and to play in Europe.

“I know the players that I coach, the way I coach them is to get them to Europe. I mean I have lots of players like Benni, and Bongani Khumalo.

“Bongani Khumalo was not rated in South African football but he played in Europe, Why? Because he is coached to play that type of game.

“Shandre Campbell it’s about getting his crossing, his passing, the final ball, that is the mentality I always coach that way. It might not look fancy to the public eye.

“But you got to coach players that way so we can move them to that space (abroad) and that’s what people look for.”

Hunt has also shared that despite Campbell’s departure, there are several young talents ready to be promoted to the senior team at United for the upcoming season.

He is confident in his youth development pipeline and has already identified a suitable replacement for the 18-year-old Campbell.

“There are one or two (players) who made their debuts last year that pretty much will get a little more time now because the space and the opportunity is there.

“We got a boy who has been all over the world from Sweden Keanin Ayer he is 23 or 24.

“He went to a Ghana academy at 11 or 12 years old. It’s an unbelievable story.

“And he got all the attributes that I think he can be the top player. He comes back at 23 and I think he will be very good for us this season.

“Also, a guy like Thabang Mahlangu was a top goal scorer in the Diski Challenge last year.

“But there is a lot of work that needs to be done on his movements and all these things which we do in training.

“We will get a little bit of more time to work on those things and I think it’s up to him.

“There also few others under the radar as well.”

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach has played 13 players under the age of 20 last year under his leadership at the Swanky Boys.
