NEWS: PSL increase MTN8 prize money to whopping R10 million

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed a prize money increase for all the participants of the MTN8, with the champions set to collect R10 million.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed a prize money increase for all the participants of the MTN8, with the champions set to collect R10 million.

This was revealed during the launch of this season’s edition at the SABC headquarters in Johannesburg.

The MTN8 gets underway on Saturday, with the defending champions Orlando Pirates hosting SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday at 18:00.

Pirates have won the competition for the past two seasons, pocketing a cool R8 million for each campaign.

The sponsor together with the league increased the prize money by R2 million. Also, all the other seven participating teams will now get R1 million each instead of R800 000.

The second quarterfinal will take place on Sunday between Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy at Danie Craven Stadium at 15:00.

Sekhukhune United will be at home against Cape Town City at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, August 10 at 15:00.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United will wrap up the quarterfinals at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, August 11.

Kick-off in Atteridgeville has been set for 15:00.
