Race 5

MISSOUK is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she put her disappointing penultimate start over 1000M behind her when finishing second next time out over 1100M, 0.8L back from the winner, but she overraced three wide without cover that day and hung out down the home straight, so she had her excuses. From gate six, she will be hoping to chalk up her second career victory and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

THE BIG SHAMROCK has cracked pole position and won over 1100M three runs back, finished ninth in his penultimate start over the same sprint trip and then fourth in his latest outing over 1400M, four lengths back from the winner, but he did come three wide into the home straight that day, before staying on well over the closing stages. The gelding could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

MISS GHENT is another 4-year-old filly in the race and came four wide into the home stretch and was hampered at the 350M pole when ending up in eighth place last time out over 1600M, six lengths adrift of the victor. She returns from a 21-week break, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial. From a wideish gate eight, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, TOKYO ICE is a 6-year-old mare taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with a 0.8L victory last time out over 1100M, this despite being slow away and overracing in the middle stages. She struck the front at the 200M mark in that event and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The mare has her peak run for her new trainer after returning from a 14-week rest and from a handy draw three, she should turn in another honest performance here.

SCOFFA showed solid improvement to win his last start over 1000M by two lengths. He was forced to race three wide without cover in that event, but kicked clear of the field at the top of the home straight to record a comfortable victory. The gelding faces a wide draw eleven, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

GYPSY POWER went from jump to wire to win his last start over 1000M by 0.8L and will be having his peak run here after returning from an 18-week rest. From his useful draw four, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and could prove hard to reel in over the latter stages.

Race 7

HULM had completed his hat-trick after three wins over 1000M, before being a tad disappointing when finishing eleventh last time out over the same sprint trip, 5.8L off the winner. He raced just behind the leaders on that occasion, but did not go on with his effort over the latter stages. The gelding jumps from a wideish draw eight, but he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.

LOVE SHUCK won over 1000M three runs back, finished fourth in his penultimate start over 1200M and then fourth again in his latest outing over 1300M, just under a half lengths behind the winner, but that was at a stronger centre, and he was slow away. The gelding has pulled a cosy draw two and should be right up there when they hit the line.

SHEILA is a 6-year-old mare taking on boys, but she goes for her hat-trick after two victories over 1000M, the latest by a half length, despite being slow away. She recovered quickly to race up in third place and hit the front at the 200M pole, before holding on courageously. The mare is sure to put her pole position to good use and the trio is very much on the cards.

Race 8

This looks to be a tricky race to end off the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. NATS ENOUGH had to weave his way through traffic in the home straight when finishing sixth last time out over 1600M, 2.2L behind the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He jumps from a handy draw three and looks to be the one to side with here.

STOCKHOLM followed up his penultimate run victory over 1400M with a thirteenth-place finish next time out over 1300M, just over six and a half lengths back from the winner, but he had to be steadied off the heels of another runner at the 1100M mark and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight. in addition, his jockey put up 1kg overweight, so a line should be drawn through that effort. The gelding is drawn one outside the top pick and should keep him honest.

SORRY SUNSHINE lost a length at the start and then had to be held up on the home turn, but still managed to put 6.3L between himself and the opposition to win his last start over 1500m. He is drawn slightly wider in gate six, but he is very much a runner here.
