Mofokeng, 19, who made his debut for the Buccaneers last year, has drawn attention from clubs in Spain and Scotland after a remarkable 2023/24 season.

Mofokeng capped off his impressive campaign by winning the Young Player of the Season award and earned call-ups to South Africa’s senior national team.

He recently trialled with English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, sparking further speculation about his future.

When asked about a potential move, Riveiro spoke openly but remained focused on Mofokeng’s current role.

“We are in football; you never know what is going to happen,” Riveiro said on BBK’s Unplugged Podcast on Sports Live.

“My vision of the situation is that Relebohile right now is available for myself, for the team, and we are going to use him to the best of his capacity.”

Riveiro emphasised Mofokeng’s potential, stating, “Whatever happens in the future for him, I think is something that’s going to be special for our club.”

He praised the player’s ambition, adding that Mofokeng will be cherished at Orlando Pirates and encouraged him to “not limit himself.”
