JOYFUL PROSPERITY finished a couple of lengths behind FRUITY WARRIOR in his last start.. He is slightly better off at the weights and there shouldn’t be too much between them in this opening contest. COLOURFUL BARON showed improvement on the All Weather last time and it is encouraging that Lyle Hewitson has kept faith in the ride.
7.30 Race 2 Class 5 – 1400m
Selections: 2/4/3
YOUNG HORIZON produced a good comeback effort at Happy Valley. He will strip much fitter and the booking of Zac Purton to ride is a major plus. SUPER ELITE is better than his below par last effort. He won in this grade three runs ago and must be included in all bets. ISLAND GOLDEN is next best.
8.00 Race 3 Class 4 – 1650m
Selections: 8/5/1
FOREVER FOLKS finished just under a length behind FLOOF on this course last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights which should be enough to turn the tables. DRAGON STAR was beaten the narrowest of margins in his last start. The only concern is that he has only competed once on this course.
8.30 Race 4 Class 4 – 1000m
Selections: 1/3/10
METRO WARRIOR is nicely weighted with apprentice Ellis Wong aboard. He meets a moderate field mixed with first-timers and is a tentative first choice. The Douglas Whyte trained BRILLIANT FIRE has shown some promise in his barrier trials and would not be a shock debut winner.
9.00 Race 5 Class 4 – 1200m
Selections: 10/5/2
The grey MR GOOD VIBES produced a fair comeback run behind the speedy Cheval Valiant. He will enjoy the step up to six furlongs and should be one of the leading contenders. FUN N FUN TOGETHER got into an early tussle with Storming Dragon in his comeback effort and he should come on nicely with that run under the belt.
9.35 Race 6 Class 4 – 1400m
Selections: 5/12/6
SOLID WIN ran on strongly to finish second in his last start. With some luck in running, he should be able to make his presence felt. PERFECT PEACH was beaten narrowly last time. He comes in at the bottom of the weights and could be one to cause an upset. FLYING LUCK is next in line.
10.05 Race 7 Class 3 – 1000m
Selections: 7/3/13
The manner which FAST NETWORK drew off to win his last start was impressive. He showed a good turn of foot to beat CHEVAL VALIANT on that occasion. He is a nice sort in-the-making and will be looking to keep his unbeaten record intact. FLYING HIGH is proven in this grade. He finished a couple of lengths behind the winner in his comeback run and will strip much fitter.
10.40 Race 8 Class 4 – 1400m
Selections: 2/6/5
SUGAR BALL ran on nicely at the business end to win his last start. Zac Purton has picked up the ride and it will be no surprise to see him go back-to-back. ONLY U produced a fair comeback run behind Team Happy. If overcoming the wide draw he can finish in the placings. SKY TRUST can show if fit.
11.15 Race 9 Class 3 – 1200m
Selections: 5/6/8
DIVANO has a solid record on this course. He finished runner-up behind Bottomuptogether and that form line has been given a boost. He is a progressive type and will have plenty of followers. LADY’S CHOICE is returning from a four-month layoff. He is competitive in Class 3 and should be involved in the fight to the finish.
11.50 Race 10 Class 2 – 1650m
Selections: 8/10/7
BERLIN TANGO has proven himself on the All Weather. He is a former Group 3 winner and from pole definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. CHILL CHIBI finished 0.7 lengths behind RED HARE KING last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there shouldn’t be too much separating them in the lucky last!
