Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced his 23-man squad for the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in October 2024.
South Africa will first face Congo Brazzaville on Friday, October 11, in Gqebera before traveling to Congo for the return leg on Tuesday, October 15.
Bafana is in Group K for the qualifiers, alongside Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda. The top two teams from this group will secure their spots in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Bafana is currently occupying the second place in Group K with four points after two games. They are equal on points with log leaders Uganda.
The only new addition to Broos’ squad is Thabiso Sesane, an Orlando Pirates defender, who has earned his first-ever call-up to the national team.
The upcoming games against Congo will be critical for Bafana Bafana as they aim to solidify their position in the group and move one step closer to booking a ticket to Morocco.
