AYR
Race 3 No8 KALEIDOSCOPIC (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
Found to be in season when beaten by Lottie Marie at Lingfield, KALEIDOSCOPIC has strong claims on her previous second to Waldkonig at Pontefract and can make amends. This is a step up the class ladder, but her best form puts her in with as good a chance as any.
Race 6 No5 PUCKLE
Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning
Having finished second in four of her last five outings, PUCKLE can conjure up a tad more improvement to deservedly open her account. The Beverley specialist was beaten in a photo on latest start here and has solid claims for another frame finish at least.
YARMOUTH
Race 3 No11 ESTATE HOUSE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: William Buick
ESTATE HOUSE ended last season well and started from where he left off with a good third to Helian at Wolverhampton. Granted normal progression from that run he should play a leading role in this competitive heat.
Race 4 No1 ARIA ROSE ( Each Way)
Trainer: Mike Murphy – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
There are few more game or consistent horses than ARIA ROSE, who has a good chance of taking out this 16-runner handicap off joint top weight. One that likes to get on with it, he runs off the same mark as when worn down by the progressive Vanity Affair at Nottingham and can make this a ninth earning effort in as many starts.
Race 5 No2 SINGLE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass
SINGLE consistently runs to her mark and is difficult to win with, but this track should bring out the best in her. She was denied by a horse from a jumping yard at Kempton but keeps Bass in the plate, and he’s been placed or won on eight of the ten occasions he’s ridden her.
WARWICK
Race 3 No6 GOODNIGHT CHARLIE
Trainer: Caroline Fryer – Jockey: Bridget Andrews
Track specialist GOODNIGHT CHARLIE may benefit from having had to skip an engagement the other day, as it means the bold jumping grey is fresher for a return to his happy hunting ground at which he’s a three-time winner. Although pulled up on his latest visit, he raised his game when third at Cheltenham’s April meeting and can benefit from having Andrew’s back in the hot seat.
Race 5 No1 BUN DORAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Tom George – Jockey: Jonathan Burke
BUN DORAN lost his mojo last season when failing to trouble the judge in all four starts. However, they comprised Grade 1 and 2 chases and a handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He’s taken a drop in the weights and may be able to bounce back returned to a smaller field in which he may upset the rhythm of hot favourite Fidelio Vallis from the front.
Race 7 No5 I’M A STARMAN (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Rimell – Jockey: James Davies
I’M A STARMAN is one to take seriously in this handicap hurdle, having run well through the spring, winning at Hereford and finding only Pounding Poet too good here earlier in the month. Track, trip and ground are all in his favour.
SOUTHWELL
Race 2 No1 WITNESS PROTECTION (Nap)
Trainer: Martin Keighley – Jockey: James Best
WITNESS PROTECTION makes considerable appeal on chase debut after picking up a couple of novice hurdles and finishing second in two others. He’s actually been crying out for fences and has impressed in his tuition at home.
Race 6 No13 MOIDORE (Each Way)
Trainer: Charles Pogson – Jockey: C Todd
It’s been two years since MOIDORE last visited the winner’s circle, but from a plunging mark, he’s gradually getting his act together, as demonstrated with a frame finish at Market Rasen last time. Plenty in this are badly out of form, and he can take home another cheque.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 2 No7 BONNEVAL
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: James Doyle
As the least exposed horse in this all-aged handicap, BONNEVAL can overcome a far from ideal draw to add to his laurels on handicap bow. A winner at Redcar last summer, he shaped in eye taking fashion to trouble the judge on reappearance behind Troll Peninsula at Kempton and will be more streetwise now.
Race 5 No7 GOLDIE HAWK
Trainer: Chris Wall – Jockey: Pat Cosgrave
This trainer excels with fillies like GOLDIE HAWK, who went close to completing a four-timer at Windsor and comes here with plenty of confidence behind her to go one better.
