Race 1

TRIPPI T was unlucky not to have won his last start over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack as he was carried inwards at the 150m mark. The son of Trippi will enjoy racing on the turf straight course and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.

SILVER SAVAGE showed good speed when third in his last start over 1200m on this course. The son of New Predator finished third in his penultimate run over this C&D. He is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.

RAILROAD’S last three starts before the 12-week break were good. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 2

DAWN SURPRISE should have won her last start over this C&D. She moved up like a winner but was reported to be changing strides in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She is a progressive type and can go one better.

ONE SMART COOKIE was a tad disappointing over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If finding the form of her previous two outings, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

AN AIR OF PRIDE stayed on when second over 1400m on the Polytrack last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The drop to 1200m should not pose a concern and she cannot be ignored.

Race 3

MASTER TIK TOK hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. He ran a fair race in his last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of Mogok Master has plenty of scope and if all went well with his travels, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

POWER STAR fought hard in his last start, but was touched off by Pieter Both. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and the son of Pomodoro should pose a massive threat.

CONNOISSEUR set the pace over 1600m last time but was outrun late by Querari’s Dream. The son of Canford Cliffs should have no issues with the rise to 1750m. He does have a wide draw to overcome but gets the services of Muzi Yeni who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 4

QUERARI’S DREAM won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1600m on this course last time. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1950m. He does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

QUANTIFIER has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He rallied late when second over 2600m last time. He should have no issues with the drop to 1950m and is one of the leading contenders. JAZZ FESTIVAL stayed on when third over 1750m on this course last time. It must be noted that Allaroundtheworld has come out and won again since. He carries a nice weight of 55.5kgs and can earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 5

ALL THE TIME is a winner of his last three starts under Rachel Venniker. He moved up well in his last start over 1200m and kept finding all the way to the line. Three of his six career victories have come over this distance. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

IRON WILL won a game race in his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

JOSHUA HOTSNAKE rallied late when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. He finished 2.35 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. M

Race 6

ODE TO THE OCEAN hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. She stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of What A Winter has dropped to a competitive rating and she should give the males a run for their money.

WINTER WAVES should have finished closer last time as he clipped heels leaving the start. He won his only attempt on this course. He takes a drop in class and if getting away to a clean start, he should pose a massive threat.

GIAMBATTISTA is a winner of his last two starts. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He finished 2.85 lengths behind the second choice, three runs ago. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 7

LICENCE TO THRILL should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the closing stages and was reported to have cast a shoe in running. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, he should be the one to beat.

WINTER BARON ran a fair race over 1400m last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He takes on weaker company this afternoon and Muzi Yeni may be able to get the best out of him.

GRIFFIN PARK won a good race in his last start over 1000m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is better than his merit rating suggests and can follow up.

Race 8

STING RAY was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this C&D. The daughter of Red Ray will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SHONA KIRSTY YVES finished 1.6 lengths behind MAGGIE SMITH last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

MAGGIE SMITH ran on well to win her last start over this C&D. She received a seven pound penalty for that victory. She takes a slight rise in class but is in a good space and can follow up.
