TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 4: OCEAN WARRIOR (11)
Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: Snaith J

OCEAN WARRIOR is the best bet on the programme. He made the natural improvement when finishing second over 1600m last time. He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on strongly at the business end. The son of Coup De Grace should love the extra furlong on offer today. He is a progressive type and should take a power of beating.

Race 5: NEXUS (1)
Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: Snaith J

NEXUS is much better than his last start in the Grade 1 Vodacom Durban July. His form prior to that outing was good. He has won four times and finished second twice from seven starts over this C&D. If all went well with his travels back to the Cape, he should be too good for this field.

Race 6: RAIN IN NEWMARKET (6)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Snaith J

RAIN IN NEWMARKET finished 1.25 lengths behind PRETTY BETTY in the Listed Ladies Mile last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Kingsbarns has a lot of class and can return to winning ways.

Race 7: CAPITANA (2)
Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Crawford B

CAPITANA was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed Olympic Duel Stakes last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. She has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. Greg Cheyne takes the ride and she should notch up her sixth career victory.

Race 8: PHOTOCOPY (1)
Jockey: Mxothwa L – Reeves

PHOTOCOPY stumbled at the start last time and is much better than that effort suggests. He has won twice, finished second twice and third four times from eleven starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding continues to drop in the ratings and with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle, he may be the one to cause the upset.
