The Citizens signed the 32-year-old former Bidvest Wits shotstopper from Cape Umoya United following the departure of Peter Leeuwenburgh.

He joined fellow keeper Bongani Mpandle in joining the side ahead of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership, but has now been ruled out for six months.

Tinkler said on IOL: “Darren Keet has a long-term injury and will be out. He tore a muscle in his thigh. He will be out for six months.

“It is an injury he sustained at his previous club.”

City have since signed Angolan international Hugo Marques as his replacement, with Tinkler, who side faces AmaZulu in their MTN8 quarter-final clash, adding: “Hugo brings a lot of experience. He’s played over a 1000 games. He is a good leader, he speaks English, he is a good communicator.”
