CARLISLE
Race 2 No9 RAMBUSO CREEK (Nap)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Tom Eaves
A wide draw is not ideal for RAMBUSO CREEK but the son of Tagula should be able to call on his experience from a pleasing debut run to break smartly and get into early contention. He failed by just a head to repel Hamaki on that occasion at Pontefract and now tackles a similarly stiff track.
CHELMSFORD CITY
Race 1 No8 ALKHANSA (Each Way)Trainer: Ralph
Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby
On a tricky card for punters, it could prove best to try a smash and grab approach and back ALKHANSA in the first. This looks a very open heat and the selection is destined to step up on an encouraging first effort when finishing in mid-division behind Thebeautifulgame at Salisbury. She was easy to back that day, but is unlikely to want for support here.
FFOS LAS
Race 1 No9 BLUEBELL WAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes
BLUEBELL WAY is carded to start as one of the roughies in the opening nursery, but with good direction from the saddle could prove a surprise packet. She spoiled her chance with a tardy exit from the stalls when last seen at Wolverhampton and will be happier returned to turf.
Race 2 No2 SISTERANDBROTHER (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Ross Coakley
From the same stable SISTERANDBROTHER can give likely favourite Hesperis plenty to think about. The selection has earned in all three outings since going down the handicap route and has shown he’s happier over this mile and a half as he’s a strong staying type.
Race 7 No1 SOCIAL CITY
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Miss L Bowen
Estrela Star will be a popular order in this race for female amateur jockeys but may have to play second fiddle to SOCIAL CITY. The Cityscape gelding is giving away stacks of weight but showed on a very rare run on grass last time that he is effective at this course.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 1 No4 SAAHEQ (Each Way)
Trainer: Amanda Perrett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Hold up horse SAAHEQ saw too much daylight in a small field at Sandown last week. In this much bigger field where a stronger gallop is likely, and if enjoying racing real estate at the business end, he can swoop to conquer.
Race 6 No8 BASHFUL (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Hayley Turner
Perennial bridesmaid BASHFUL is up against some in form foes but the Manduro colt enjoys a healthy weight concession on only a second start in a handicap, making him dangerous for a stable that is firing in the winners.
SEDGEFIELD
Race 1 No1 OCTOBER STORM (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
Following McCain and Hughes could be the order of the day at the day’s only jumps fixture and OCTOBER STORM is a very tempting betting proposition in the opening novices’ hurdle. He made a perfect transition to hurdling on just a second outing for his new trainer at Market Rasen and is in the mood to remain unbeaten at this discipline.
Race 6 No2 KENSINGTON ART
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
KENSINGTON ART troubled the judge in all three maiden and novice hurdle runs last season. Tuned up by a recent run on the Flat, he can put his best foot forward in this novices’ hurdle to give connections a double.
