The Proteas have dealt a blow with the news that fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against India.
According to a statement released by Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday, Nortje has not “recovered adequately from a persistent injury” and will take no part in the series starting on Boxing Day in Centurion.
No replacement has been called up into the squad and the Proteas pace attack will be led by Kagiso Radaba and complemented by the likes of Duanne Olivier, Glenton Stuurman, Beuran Hendricks and the uncapped Marco Jansen.
The upcoming series will be the first for the Proteas in the longest format since July when they beat the West Indies away from the home.
