Bangladesh hit the ground running with a superb ODI win against the Proteas that continues their excellent Cricket World Cup Super League form.

Proteas v Bangladesh

The Proteas appeared to be caught cold by the tourists with a loose bowling effort backed up by a stuttering innings with the bat.

To Win Match
South Africa 23/100 | Tie 25/1 | Bangladesh 32/10

South Africa

South Africa missed Quinton de Kock at the top of the innings as their top order dug them into a hole that Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller couldn’t pull them out of.

Van der Dussen and Miller also lost their wickets at crucial points but both did so with pressure mounting.

The bowling effort was poor and seemingly carried out without a clear gameplan.

Skipper Temba Bavuma used only the five specialist bowlers, eschewing the option of Aiden Markram bowling in the powerplay, which has worked well to give the captain leeway later in the innings and stave off predictability

Bangladesh

Bangladesh will be thrilled that Shakib al Hasan has agreed to tour and looks to be in great touch.

Big positives have come out of their first match aside from a historic first win over the Proteas in South Africa.

Yasir Ali’s innings suggests that Bangladesh have unearthed a great white-ball batter.

Mehidy Hasan also showed just how good he is in outperforming the lone spinner deployed by South Africa by some distance.

Verdict: Bangladesh 32/10

Bangladesh have momentum and the Proteas continue to be tactically askew in ODIs.
