Race 4

MURRAJONG ROAD has only had the two runs to date, finishing third on debut over six furlongs and then second last time out over seven furlongs, three and a half lengths behind the winner. He raced just behind the leaders that day and then stayed on well over the closing stages, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking.

He would have come on further with that run under his belt and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could be the one that they all have to beat. The colt gets a handy draw three and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to YGGDRASIL who has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three runs, the latest when second over 1500M, 1.3L adrift of the victor. She had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 1100M mark that day as well as being held up entering the home straight, so that effort was encouraging. The form of that race has been franked and from gate five, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

AFEWCHOICEWORDS is the stable companion to the latter and has finished close up in both of his runs to date, the first over 1300M and the latest when fourth over 1500M, 1.8L back from the winner, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly and then only seeing daylight at the 250M pole. She is drawn one inside the latter and looks to be a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

Race 5

DEVIL’S THROAT had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over six furlongs by 0.8L, this despite being crowded shortly after the start and has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial. He faces a wideish draw nine and takes on stronger here, but he may well be up to the task at hand.

KIPSBAY also wo his maiden race last time out over six furlongs, but in his case by 2.3L. He overraced in the middle stages, but still managed to kick clear of the opposition at the 220M mark to win going away and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. From his kinder draw four, he looks to be a big runner here.

BEHOLDER is yet another to have won his maiden race in his latest outing over six furlongs, in this case, by one and a half lengths. He hung in over the last 200M of that contest and the form of the race has been franked. The gelding has cracked pole position and should not be lightly overlooked.

Race 6.

GREENHEART goes for his hat-trick after two victories over five furlongs, the latest by a head. He came three wide into the home stretch that day, but found a powerful finish to claim victory in the shadow of the post and the form of that race has been boosted by two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He gets gate seven and the trio of wins is very much on the cards.

MAGIC ON ICE showed marked improvement to win his last start over five furlongs by 2.3L. He was slow away and then had to be held up at the 250M mark, before making good late progress over the latter stages of the race. He has pulled gate four and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Although ISALUTE is recorded as finishing fourth in his latest outing over 1100M, he was just one and a half lengths behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day and found himself at the back of the field, but produced a strong finish over the closing stages of the race and the form of that contest looks strong as three runners out of the race have subsequently won. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but he should be doing his best work late. The gelding returns from a 24 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest to prove his fitness.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, STARBORETA has consistent formlines to her name, finishing a head second in her latest outing over six furlongs. She turned into the home stretch in last place that day, but finished strongly to just fail to overhaul the winner. She will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but given her style of racing, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early part and then start to pick off the frontrunners over the latter stages.

AUNTIE MONNIE is seldom far off the action, culminating with a jump to wire one length victory last time out over six furlongs. She is drawn out even wider than the former in gate twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

SPEECH produced a powerful finish to get within a head of victory when ending up in second place last time out over five furlongs. She is drawn even wider in gate fifteen, but on the plus side, she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.
