Race 4

CRIMSON ROCK followed up his penultimate run victory where he won his maiden race over six furlongs with a disappointing ninth place finish next time out over 1100M, 19.2L adrift of the winner and was immediately rested for 22 weeks. It should however be noted that he had nothing go his way that day and the run is best ignored. He jumped awkwardly and was bumped shortly after the start, came three wide into the home straight, before being hampered at the 800M mark. He has finished fourth in his only barrier trial to prove his fitness. The gelding has cracked pole position and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. Two 4yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to LEESIDE who finished third in her penultimate start over six furlongs and then disappointed next time out, finishing eleventh over seven furlongs, nine lengths adrift of the winner. She was moved to a new stable and rested for 18 weeks after that run and returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. If fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.

NEVADA SMOKE is seldom far off the action and tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in second place last time out over 1100M, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but nevertheless she should be included in all bets.

Race 5

A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but WHATYOULOOKINGAT is given the nod to lead the field home. She had her consistency rewarded with a just over one and a half length victory last time out over five furlongs, this despite jumping awkwardly. She recovered well to get to the head of affairs that day and was only run out of it late. She has pulled pole position and will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

BONCASSIE won her penultimate run over six furlongs and the ended up in fourth place next time out over this c&d, just under a length back from the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. From her hand draw four, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

POITA made marked improvement to win his last start over 950M by half a length, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly and coming four wide approaching the home turn, before hanging in down the straight. He is drawn six, will be having his peak run after returning from a 23 week absence and should be in the shake-up.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, DARCI DIVA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she set the pace and then kept going strongly to win her maiden race last tine out over six furlongs by 0.8L and the form of that race has been franked. She has also won a subsequent barrier trial to boost her confidence. From a cozy draw two and with her having her peak run since returning from a 31 week break, she looks to be the one to side with here.

WHATEVER I SAY is the stable companion to the top pick and also won his maiden last time out over six furlongs, but in his case, by just over one and a half lengths. He was bumped at the start and came four wide approaching the home turn, but struck the front at the 150M pole to win going away. The gelding gets gate seven and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice. He makes a solid back-up for the yard.

BEING NAUGHTY put his disappointing penultimate run firmly behind him when finishing third last time out over 1100M, 1.8L behind the winner. He came four wide into the home stretch, but stayed on well over the latter stages and is sure to put his useful draw four to good use.

Race 7

WOKENWITHAKISS is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she showed solid improvement when putting 3.8L between herself and the opposition to win her last start over seven furlongs, despite overracing in the early stages. The form of that race has been franked and from gate six and with having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she could prove hard to topple here. As such, she is made the best bet on the day’s program.

CONDOVER HALL came three wide into the home stretch, but battled all the way down to the wire when finishing second last time out over six furlongs, 1.7L behind the winner. He gets draw three and a repeat of that last effort could see him emerge as the biggest danger to the former.

PERSIAN BEAUTY is another 3yr old filly in the race. She was bumped at the 300M mark before staying on well to end up in fourth place last time out over 1500M, 2.7L off the winner. She faces a wide gate twelve, but she should be doing her best work late.
