The 33-year-old Maluleka scored the opening goal in Sundowns’ 3-0 victory in the CAF Champions League match against Al Merrikh in Group B. The other goals came via Bradley Ralani and Kermit Erasmus.

In an interview after the match, Maluleka said he was at a loss for words when asked about opening the scoring for his side.

“I am at a loss of words,” Maluleka said. “I am very happy and relieved and excited for what’s to come.

“I am just happy that we got a positive result today more than anything.

“We played well but we can still improve our performance, I’m very happy that we won,” he said.

“I played today and we got a positive result and I feel good but I still feel there’s more to improve on,” Maluleka continued.

“It’s a very special goal, my first goal for Sundowns. This one is going into my archives for sure.

“What a way to come back and then to also score a goal. I can’t ask for anything more.”
