Race 4

The day’s value bet, RHAPSODY QUEEN is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing third last time out over this sprint trip, just over one length behind the winner, this despite overracing at the head of affairs. She gets a handy draw three and seems likely to turn in another honest performance here.

REATEROS is drawn one outside the top choice and is seldom too far off the action and ended up in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, just over three lengths back from the winner. He raced three wide in that contest, but still managed to stay on well over the closing stages. He has his first run for his new trainer and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here.

STARIKS put his disappointing penultimate run behind him when finishing second in his latest outing over 1100M, 0.8L off the winner, notwithstanding hanging out over the latter stages. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and although drawn wide in gate ten, he will be looking to make amends today.

Race 5

Two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish of this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, THUNDER ROSE is taken to lead the pack home. She has consistent formlines to her credit, culminating with a 2L victory last time out over six furlongs and the form of that race has held up well with six runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She gets gate seven and does return from a 26 week break without having had a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but the blinkers are removed for the first time and with 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she could prove difficult to topple.

CIAO UNO followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a second place finish next time out over this c&d, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

ROYALE RETURN has posted two solid last runs, winning the latest over six furlongs by a head, despite jumping awkwardly and has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial for his new trainer, which seems to suggest that he has adjusted to his new environment. He faces a wide gate eleven, but he should all the same, be involved in the finish.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top pick goes to CONDOVER HALL who had his consistency rewarded with victory by just under a half length last time out over this c&d. He raced three wide approaching the home turn that day, but then kicked clear of the field at the 200M before holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The gelding is drawn the widest of the lot in gate thirteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

SHOWS PRIDE has finished second in his last two starts the latest over seven furlongs, 2.8L adrift of the victor. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only run out of it late. From gate seven, he will be hoping to go one better today.

POETIC POWER is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she stayed on well when ending up in sixth spot last time out over seven furlongs, 5.3L behind the winner. She is drawn one inside the latter and will be having her peak run after returning from an 18 week spell.

Race 7

A 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but ADELINDA gets the nod for top honors. She had finished third in her three outings prior to winning her last start over 1100M, albeit by just a short-head. From her cozy draw three and with having 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she will be hoping to chalk up her second career victory today. In addition, she will be having her peak run after returning from a 14 week rest.

DARCI DIVA is a speedy sort who showed solid improvement to win her maiden race last time out over six furlongs by 0.8L when returning from a 13 week break. She has won a subsequent barrier trial for her new trainer and jumping from a wide draw twelve, she is likely to adopt the same tactics here and could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages.

STERNY BEAR showed marked improvement to win his maiden contest last time out over 1100M by 0.8L, notwithstanding hanging out all the way down the home stretch. He faces stronger here and will have to negotiate gate nine, but he should be included in all bets.
