GILDED BUTTERFLY moved up like a winner over 1400m on this course, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Elusive Swann. She is back against her own sex this afternoon and has plenty of scope. Diego De Gouveia steps into the saddle and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

GOOD QUEEN BESS produced an encouraging comeback run over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She flyjumped leaving the stalls and had to be switched at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Kingman would have come on from the run and she should take a power of beating with Richard Fourie retaining the ride.

MEET THE CAPTAIN finished 0.25 lengths behind LAZULI last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is having her second run after a rest and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
