The 33-year-old Maluleka was released by Mamelodi Sundowns last month and it came as no surprise after making only five appearances last season for the Brazilians.

AmaZulu club president Sandile Zungu initially confirmed they has signed midfielder Maluleka on 2 July via the clubs Twitter account.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Nomvethe said the club did not want to put unnecessary pressure on Maluleka and would give him time to settle in and get used to his new surroundings.

“He’s got experience because he has been playing for a big team, he has been winning championships. Him being with the club will add value and help some of the other boys to do well at the club,” Nomvethe tells Soccer Laduma.

“I don’t want to say too much about George, because it will put pressure on him at his new team, but I think so far so good. He is ready to work with the boys,” Nomvethe adds.

AmaZulu will be in action at the Legacy Cup on 23 July against a Zululand Invitational and fans should be able to get a look at how Maluleka and the new squad members are doing in pre-season.
