Race 4.

This looks to be a tricky race to open up the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. TYCOON’S DELIGHT is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys and finished eleventh last time out over seven furlongs, just over five lengths behind the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with all of five runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She returns from a 15 week rest, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. She does face a wide draw thirteen, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

CAPTURED IN TIME is seldom far off the action and had to be eased at the 100M mark before finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He has pulled a wideish gate eight, but is another who will get 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

GOLD PREMIUM is a 4yr old filly who was crowded in the early stages and never really got into the race when ending up in nineth place last time out over six furlongs, twelve and a half lengths adrift of the victor, so a line should be drawn through that effort. From draw six, she should not be easily overlooked.

Race 5.

GRINZINGER KNIGHT showed marked improvement when finishing second in his latest outing over 1700M, just a head back from the winner. If he is able to repeat that effort, which appears solid and from gate six, he could prove hard to topple and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

EASIER SAID is a 5yr old mare taking in males, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second in her latest outing over 1700M, just a head back from the winner. She kicked clear of the field at the top of the home straight that day and was only collared in the shadow of the post. From draw eight, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

I’MTIMMYZOU followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a fourth place finish next time out when stepping up to 1700M, just under two lengths adrift of the victor. The gelding race three wide from the 600M mark that day, but still managed to stay on well over the latter stages, suggesting that he should enjoy the extra ground on offer today. He gets a handy draw four and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

EMPRESS ZOU has consistent formlines to her credit and although recorded as finishing fifth last time out, she was just over two lengths off the winner. She jumped awkwardly on that occasion, but stayed on well over the latter stages. From her useful gate three, she looks to be the one that they all have to beat.

SELLING SUNSET’S last five runs have yielded three seconds, a third and the latest, a fourth spot finish over 1350M, just a half length behind the winner. She is drawn one outside the top pick and should turn in another honest performance here.

ALL’S FAIR tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in fourth place in her latest outing over six furlongs, just over three and a half lengths behind the winner. She is another with a cozy draw, in her case, two and should be included in all bets.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, BEN HUR was returning from a 10 week rest when staying on well to finish third last time out over 1100M, just under two lengths behind the winner, this despite shifting out in the home straight. He jumps from gate seven and will have ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

LOOK A’LIKE won his penultimate run over six furlongs and then finished second next time out over the same c&d, just under a length behind the winner. He was bumped at the start that day and raced three wide without cover, but still managed to finish off his race well. He gets a kinder gate four and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

SUBRUNNER finished thirteenth in his latest outing over five furlongs, but was just three and a half lengths back from the victor. He was returning from a 21 week absence that day and is sure to put his pole position to good use.
