MEDIC ELITE backed up favourite status over a mile last time. He tends to do his best work late in races and the step up to 1800m shouldn’t be a concern. BEAUTY NOVA placed on this course last time has cracked pole position and must be considered in this opening contest. LOYAL AMBITION is returning from a short break. He is better than his below-par last run and it will be no surprise to see him return to best form.
13:15 – Race 2 | Class 2 | 2200m

RISE BRETHREN finished strongly last time when beaten just under a length by SPIRITED EXPRESS. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. The grey NEARLY FINE is in a rich vein of form and can challenge the top selection.

ISLAND SURPRISE followed up his recent win with a fair effort behind the progressive Gold Gold Baby. He meets the right field and should be one of the leading contenders. D STAR produced a fair debut at long-odds. He should come on nicely with that run under the belt and must be respected.
14:15 – Race 4 | Class 5 | 1000m

G ONE EXCELLENT finished half a length behind TRONIC MIGHTY in his penultimate start. He is 1kg better off at the weights and his first career win looks overdue. RAGING BLAZE comes in at the bottom of the weights and could be one to fill the trifecta spot.
14:45 – Race 5 | Class 4 | 1650m

CHIU CHOW BROTHER was a narrow winner at Sha Tin last time when defeating WINWIN THIRTYTHREE. He returns from a one-month layoff and can make it back-to-back wins. STAR CONTACT ran on from far back last time. He is nicely handicapped and should give another good account of himself.
15:15 – Race 6 | Class 4 | 1650m

COPARTNER ERA wasn’t disgraced in his last start when beaten just over two lengths by Win Win Fighter. He has cracked pole position and has former South African champion apprentice Ferraris in the irons. SPICY GRILL was all at sea last time and if getting a clear passage in running can bounce back to best form.
15:45 – Race 7 | Class 4 | 1200m
Selections: 3/2/1
RATTAN KINGDOM was a good winner in his last start. The manner in which he finished his race off suggests he can follow up on his recent victory and looks one of the better bets on the card. HARMONY N HOME finished 2.5 lengths behind the top selection in his penultimate start. He is slightly worse off at the weights and may have to settle for minor money once more.
16:15 – Race 8 | Class 3 | 1200m

CALIFORNIA CIBLE produced a good comeback run after a one-year layoff when beaten just over two lengths by Beauty Tycoon. He will strip a much fitter horse and also benefit from a 4.5kgs apprentice allowance. HERE COMES TED finished 5.5 lengths behind ADIOS last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
16:50 – Race 9 | Class 3 | 1650m
Selections: 2/8/1
COMET SPLENDIDO has consistent form lines to his credit. He was beaten 1.5 lengths by Nearly Fine last time and it will be intriguing to see if the form line is done any favours in Race 2. EXCEPTIONAL NICE and WINNING DRAGON are both going for a hat-trick of wins and must also be considered in the lucky last!
