He reclaimed his IBF Junior-Flyweight world title after knocking out Mexican Adrian Curiel in the 10th round.

Nontshinga lost the first fight on a devastating second-round knockout last year, ultimately losing his title.

Reflecting on his victory, Nontshinga said he is grateful for the loss he suffered last year as it has moulded him into becoming the person he is today.

“You know the loss, I appreciate it way more because I’m not the same person that I was a year ago or three months ago, now I’ve grown into this person that I am, so that’s why I always emphasise that you have to take your losses on the chin, and chin up, shoulders high, and be proud of your losses, you must never let losses define you because they are part of life and they mould us into the people that we become so I am just grateful for the loss,” said Nontshinga.

He added that he is glad that he could make his father proud, saying there is no other way to repay your parents but by making sure you make them proud.

Nontshinga has been dubbed Africa’s only credible World Boxing champion.
