Dolphins go down to Knights at the Diamond Oval

Senuran Muthusamy - Hollywoodbets Dolphins - 4 Day Franchise Series

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins went down to the VKB Knights by five wickets in their 4-Day Franchise Series clash at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Wednesday in a match that saw the fortunes see-saw over the four innings of the match.

Taking a slim two run lead from their first innings, the side from KwaZulu-Natal put together 135 in their second innings with Sarel Erwee following his first innings half century with 33 in his second knock. Calvin Savage added 27 down the order to give the Dolphins a lead of 137.

The home side put together an opening stand of 41, before the Dolphins picked a few quick wickets with Senruan Muthusamy claiming his sixth and seventh wickets of the match and Calvin Savage followed by grabbing two in two balls.

That left the Knights on 60/4, still needing a further 78 runs to win the match.

A partnership between Luthando Mnyanda and Ryan McLaren took the Knights close before Muthusamy had the former caught by Savage.

McLaren and Rudi Second kept their composure and took their side to victory.

Senuran Muthusamy was the standout for the Dolphins. The all-rounder finished with match figures of 8/115 and scored a solid 62 in the Dolphins’ first innings.

Next up for the Dolphins in the 4-Day Franchise Series is a clash with the Warriors at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium from 22-25 October.
