The match, which is the second and final four-day match until the new year, saw the Dolphins get themselves in a strong position with the bat in their first innings.

Jon-Jon Smuts was awarded the player of the match award for his five for 55 in the first innings; his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket for the Dolphins for Smuts.

SJ Erwee scored a half-century which will be a positive for him and the Proteas as he heads off with the national team on a test tour of Australia starting in December.

In another positive for the national team, Keshav Maharaj was back in action after recovering from an injury and he picked up three for 80 in the first innings as he also embarks on the tour of Australia.

The Dolphins now shift their focus back to white ball cricket, but it is 50-over cricket that is the emphasis.

The CSA One Day Cup kicks off on 2 December when the Dolphins take on the Rocks in their opener at Eurolux Boland Park.
