Pakistan won the T20 World Cup clash by a convincing 10 wickets. India were aware that this is a different ball game and the defending champions were not only looking for revenge but also making a statement of intent as they look to retain their Asia Cup crown.

India won the toss and Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan opened proceedings.

Pakistan managed to score 147; a fairly decent total.

Against any other opposition, 147 runs is a very good score, but India are a side that can overturn any deficit.

Pakistan’s hopes were brought to life when they got a wicket in the first over, dismissing KL Rahul.

Virat Kohli had other ideas though, the former India captain was on a mission. The early loss of Rahul for a golden duck had piled the pressure onto the chasing team.

After 16 overs, India needed 41 runs from 24 balls meaning the required run-rate was 10.25. The defending champions were well on the way to registering their first Asia Cup win.

After 19 overs, India had 141 runs which means they needed 7 runs on the last over – which they got.

India started their Asia Cup 2022 campaign in style by winning this high-octane encounter in Dubai. It was celebrations galore in India, a win over fierce rivals Pakistan is more than just a win.

RESULT: India beat Pakistan by 5 wickets
