PREVIEW: Australia face India, Proteas square off against England in Woman’s T20 World Cup semi-finals

South Africa completed a routine win in the end to clinch the final place in the last four on Tuesday evening to book their place in the semi-finals.

The Proteas proved too strong for Bangladesh and will face England in the semi-finals. Before that clash though Australia will face India on Thursday.

Australia have gone unbeaten through the group stage and really look like tournament favourites.

Alyssa Healy has been hard to stop and keeps on scoring at some click making Australia tough to overcome for any side.

India’s women have grown in confidence tremendously and will be out to pull off a massive upset.

Their hopes might just rest on something special from Smirti Mandhana who has so far scored the most runs for India.

Verdict: Australia 21/100

The Aussies have been at their imperious best throughout the tournament and should prove too hot to handle for an improving Indian outfit.

England also went unbeaten through the group stage and will take some stopping even for the hosts.

South Africa needed some favours to get into the last four after losses to Australia and Sri Lanka.

The hosts haven’t been explosive with the bat but they are brilliant with ball in hand.

England’s Nat Sciver is their leading run-getter and will be the prized wicket for South Africa.

Verdict: England 26/100

The Proteas appear to be outmatched on paper. They’ll be relying on raucous home support at Newlands here, but it may not be enough to get them over the line. 

We are likely to see and England vs Australia final.
