India have a few players in the group who took part in a big win at the ground in T20I cricket just a few days prior, but there are some key changes.

South Africa have won their last four ODIs at the Wanderers, last losing at the ground in February 2020.

To Win Match
South Africa 5/4 | Tie 25/1 | India 67/100

The Proteas traditionally chase very well at the Wanderers and will never lack for self-belief on the ground given the extraordinary results achieved but would still likely bat first if they won the toss in this day game.

Aiden Markram will be expected to offer leadership from the middle order with Reeza Hendricks set to open with Tony de Zorzi according to the latest indications.

South Africa test their depth in the pace department with possible debuts for Nandre Burger and Mihlali Mpongwana on the cards.

Lizaad Williams will be the default leader of the pace attack but the Proteas could rely heavily on spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Rajat Patidar, Sai Sudharsan and other rookies of a contrasting sort who could be in line to debut at the Wanderers. Patidar is already past 30 but has impressed in domestic cricket while Sudharsan is a promising youngster who has been through the age-group pipeline.

KL Rahul skippers the team and is one of the options to open the batting although it seems Shreyas Iyer might be a better man for the job.

The experience of Deepak Chahar could be key at the Wanderers where a bad day for a paceman can end up humiliating.

Kuldeep Yadav was a threat in the T20Is and India could deploy him again to derail the hosts in the middle overs.

Verdict: South Africa 5/4

A few key players are missing for India which should give the Proteas an edge.
