This series will count towards the Cricket World Cup Super League.

Pakistan vs Australia | First ODI | Tuesday 29 March 2022 | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore | 12:00

Pakistan

Pakistan will want to bounce back quickly from a shock loss in the Test series but will have their hands full with a handy Australia team.

Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been in sublime white-ball form of late and the hosts will hope this continues.

Another player bowling very well with the white pill is Shaheen Afridi who has to be among the best in the world with a new white ball.

Shadab Khan might just be Pakistan’s ace in the hole, able to contribute with the bat and win matches with the ball.

Australia

Australia have their own new ball destroyer in Mitchell Starc who possesses one of the most deadly first ball’s in cricket but he will miss the series.

Instead there will be chances for fellow left-armers Jason Behrendorff and Ben Dwarshuis.

Test skipper Pat Cummins also gets some time with his feet up with Nathan Ellis and Sean Abbott in the squad.

Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa will be key to Australia getting a result but Marcus Stoinis’ bowling could also prove highly effective.

Verdict: Australia

Australia could pinch one here.
