The West Indies will need to find top gear fast if they are to challenge India in the second ODI taking place on Wednesday morning.
A depleted India saw off the West Indies comfortably in the first ODI of this three-match series leaving the tourists backed into a corner.
It was a poor showing by the West Indies’ top order that left them chasing the game.

Skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t entirely satisfied with his team’s effort in the first One Day International of his tenure as white-ball skipper.
The fielding was far from perfect but India held their own with bat and ball against a West Indies side that didn’t turn up.
A great deal of attention will be on the middle-order where India have yet to settle on their best combination.
There were signs that Virat Kohli was having trouble letting go of the reins in the opening match but Rohit has since downplayed any suggestion of a rift.

The West Indies were travel-weary in their opening match but now find themselves having to play counterattacking cricket.
While the top order gave way in the opener, the lower order showed grit and determination that will be encouraging.
The West Indies have struggled to sustain their batting performances across 50 overs and really need a big innings from one of their stars.
They bowled well to put India under some pressure early on but just didn’t have the runs on the board. Given more to work with, things might be interesting.

Going on what transpired the first One Day International, India should prove far too strong for a spirited West Indies outfit.
