SA20 Final
Sunrisers Eastern Cape v Durban’s Super Giants
Saturday 10 February 2024 | 17:30

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape booked their place in the championship match of the 2024 SA20 by beating Durban’s Super Giants in the first qualifier.

DSG were then able to join them after they beat Joburg Super Kings in the second qualifier after JSK beat the Paarl Royals.

To Win Match
Sunrisers 1/1 | Super Giants 82/100

It has been bowling that has powered the Sunrisers to the top of the table and into this final.

Particularly it has been their star Proteas quick Ottniel Baartman who has made a big case for his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad.

Baartman has been well backed up by compatriots and international bowlers like Daniel Worral who has enjoyed a great SA20.

Skipper Aiden Markram could be about to lead his team to back-to-back titles which will be a boost to him as a leader.

DSG also have some great team leaders with figures like Quinton de Kock and skipper Keshav Maharaj who make this team tick.

However, you cannot discuss DSG without highlighting the danger posed by Heinrich Klaasen who has battered the bowling throughout this tournament and could turn this final on a dime.

DSG’s bowling has also been underrated with Junior Dala in particular finding form at the backend of the tournament.

The Durban side have also enjoyed a huge boost from their pair of Afghan stars. Naveen-ul-Haq has surprised and taught the DSG seamers a few tricks on tracks unfamiliar to him. Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad hasn’t played much but has kept Ashton Agar out of the starting XI.

Verdict: Sunrisers Eastern Cape 1/1

Unless Klaasen belts them into oblivion, the Sunrisers have all the momentum.
