Race 7

HEART OF PUISSANCE had his consistency rewarded with a 3.3L victory last time out over 2500M. He returns from a 14-week rest, but he won his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being and has cracked pole position. The blinkers are removed for the first time today and if this move has the desired effect, he looks to be the one to side with here.

HARPO MARX has won two of his last three runs, the latest when finishing well from some way back to claim victory over twelve furlongs by a half-length. He gets a wideish draw eight but should be right up there when they hit the line.

MUBARIZ is seldom far off the action and finished third in his latest outing over ten furlongs, just under a length back from the winner, despite coming four wide into the home straight. He stayed on well that day and from a handy gate two, he should turn in another honest performance today.

Race 8

TYCOONIST won over 1300M three runs back and then finished third in his next two outings, the latest over 1300M, 2.8L behind the winner. He came three-wide into the home stretch that day but made good late progress over the closing stages of the contest. From his cosy draw three, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

KING OF SPARTA is drawn one outside the top choice and has won two of his last three starts, the latest by 3.3L over six furlongs. He hit the front at the 150M mark that day and then drew away from the opposition to record a comfortable win, notwithstanding the fact that his jockey put up 0.5kgs overweight.

TRIPLE ACE has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, culminating with a victory last time out over six furlongs, albeit by just a head. He has also won a subsequent barrier trial and is sure to put his pole position to good use.

Race 9

MAJESTIC SHOT is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her last start over six furlongs by 1.3L and has also won a subsequent barrier trial. She will have to negotiate a wide draw fourteen out of fifteen, but she is a speedy sort who should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

ANDERMATT has consistent formlines to his credit and finished fourth last time out over 1100M, just over a length and a half back from the winner, despite being hampered at the start and the form of that race has been franked. He returns from an 18-week break but has had the benefit of a barrier trial, which he won to prove his fitness. He jumps from a wideish gate nine but should record another solid performance in this line-up.

SIXGUN followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third-place finish when stepping up to 1100M, one and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day and then pulled hard in the early and middle stages, so did well to finish as close to the winner as he did. From gate five, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 10

SOAMI has his hat-trick attempt after wins over 1100M and the latest over 1300M, where he won by one and a half lengths. He has in fact won three of his last four starts and the latest was made that much more encouraging by the fact that he overraced in the middle stages, but still stayed on well over the latter part of the contest. He has pulled gate two and is made the value bet on the day’s program.

KINGSHEIR won his last start over 1300M by 1.8L when returning from a lengthy 45-week absence. He is drawn one outside the top pick and should be right up there in the mix.

YIYI was bumped at the start and then came four-wide into the home straight when missing out on his hat-trick last time out, eventually finishing second over 1500M, 2.3L back from the winner. From his gate five, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.
