Race 5.

JET PACK has only had the five runs to date, posting two wins and one second place finish, but his latest outing was one of those victories, winning a head over six furlongs when returning from an 18 week break. He came four wide into the home straight that day, but stayed on well over the closing stages and the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked pole position and the blinkers get re-fitted for today’s run. ENDLESS RIVER is seldom far off the action and had to be held up at the 300M mark and only saw daylight at the 100M pole, before finish off his race strongly. He jumps from gate four and will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. With better luck in running, he should test the top choice. SPANISH MISSILE came three wide into the home stretch before ending up in eighth place last time out over six furlongs, just over eight lengths back from the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. He will have to negotiate draw twelve, but he has his peak run after returning from a 34 week break and will be hoping to bounce back to some of his better form.

Race 6.

AKASAWA has his hat-trick run after two victories over a mile, the latest by a neck and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He returns from a 39 week absence, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest. From his handy draw three, he looks to be the one that they all have to beat. TWO UP on the other hand will have to overcome the widest draw of them all in gate thirteen, but on the plus side, he will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. He came three wide into the home straight before finishing strongly to win his last start over six furlongs by just over half a length. Given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it early and then start to pick off the frontrunners over the latter stages. LAND OF VALENS finished a disappointing nineth in his last outing over six furlongs, four lengths adrift of the victor, but it should be noted that be took a heavy bump at the 700M mark in that race and then hung out all the way down the home straight. He gets a wideish draw nine, but does have his peak run after returning from a 30 week break.

Race 7.

With the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet SHALSTAR to chalk up her second career victory. She is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had the two starts to date and showed the expected improvement to win by just over half a length over five furlongs at the second time of asking. She found a powerful finish that day and the form of that race has been franked. She will have to deal with a wideish draw nine, but she is likely to have come on further with that last run under her belt and may prove difficult to topple in this line-up. ROCSTAR BOY has pulled pole position and won his maiden race last time out over six furlongs by a head when returning from a 25 week rest and two runners out of the race have subsequently won to enhance his claims for top spot. PENOPERA is a 4yr old filly who also won her maiden race last time out, but in her case over 1100M by half a length, when only seeing daylight at the 200M mark. She takes on stronger here, but has a cozy draw four and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8.

A 3yr old and a 4yr old filly, plus a 6yr old mare could dominate the finish to this race and secure the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, DAWNBURST is taken to lead the pack home. She has consistent formlines to her name and made good late progress when finishing second last time out over 1250M, 1.2L back from the winner. She jumps from gate three and should be right up there when they hit the line. Although MISS TWENTY TWENTY is recorded as finishing fifth in her latest outing over 1350m, she was just over a length and a half off the winner when staying on well. She is drawn one outside the top pick and the form of her last start has been franked. PRENCESS ZEDDY looked a possible winner at the 300M mark before being run out of it late to end up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a 19 week break. She is sure to put her pole position to good use.
