Race 5

The day’s value bet, BLAAZAY’S last five runs have yielded two firsts, two second-place finishes and a disappointing eleventh place finish last time out over a mile, just over five and a half lengths behind the winner and he was immediately rested for twelve weeks. He returns here not having had a barrier trial so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but the form of his last outing has stood up well with three runners from that contest subsequently winning. From his handy draw two, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

MOLLY NAILS is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has finished third in her last two runs over six furlongs, the latest when 2.8L behind the winner. She only saw daylight at the 250M mark that day, but finished off her race well and the form of that contest has been franked. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but she should be doing her best work late.

DRAGONS BREATH has won three of his last five starts and shifted out over the closing stages before ending up in eighth place last time out over 1100M, just under six lengths adrift of the victor. He is drawn one inside the latter and will have his peak run after returning from a 17-week break. The gelding will also hope to recapture this better form here.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative selection is ORIENTAL RUNNER, who has posted two solid last runs and overraced in the early stages before ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, 1.8L back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He is drawn wide in gate ten, but if he is able to settle in his race today, be looks to be the one to side with here.

MAD AS ZARIZ has consistent form lines to his name and finished strongly to fill second place last time out over five furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner. From his kinder draw four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

GOLDEN GORGE is drawn one inside the latter and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, just over four and a half lengths adrift of the victor and that effort is best ignored. With better luck in running today, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

PEYTON PLACE is seldom far off the action and has finished third in his last two outings, the latest over seven furlongs, just under three and a half lengths behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only run out of it late. He gets a cosy draw four and is likely to attempt similar tactics here.

INTUITION reared at the start losing two lengths but made good late progress when finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. He will have to overcome draw ten, but he should not be overlooked in this line-up.

BANGER was bumped shortly after the start and overraced in the early and middle stages before ending up in the fourth spot last time out over 1550M, just under a length off the winner. The gelding gets draw seven and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

A 3yr and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, AWESOME AUDREY is taken to lead the field home. She has only had the three runs to date, winning on debut and then finishing second last time out over this c&d, just under a half-length behind the winner, but she had to weave through traffic that day and did well to get as close to the winner as she did. She has pulled gate two and will be having her peak run after returning from a 16-week break.

EMMA’S GIFT has cracked pole position and returns from an 18-week rest without having a barrier trial. She stayed on well when finishing third in her latest start over seven furlongs, just under a length back from the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with four runners out of that contest subsequently winning.

STONE COLD won over five furlongs three runs back and then finished fifth last time out over five furlongs, just under three and a half lengths behind the winner. He gets gate five and will be helped by having 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.
