Race 7

The day’s value bet, PRIVATE EYE came four-wide into the home straight before running on well to win his last start over a mile by 0.8L and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners from that contest subsequently winning. He returns from a 16-week rest but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest. From his gate five, he looks to be the one to side with here.

CHAT followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a second-place finish next time out over this c&d, just a half-length behind the winner. He was staying on well that day and from draw three, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

VIRIDINE is seldom far off the action but did finish fourth last time out in the same race mentioned above, 0.6L behind the latter. He did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, being hampered at the 250M mark, but he faces CHAT on 2kgs worst terms at today’s weights and has a wide draw eleven to contend with. As such, he might battle to overturn that last result.

Race 8

VERRY ELLEEGANT is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she had nothing go her way when missing out on her hat-trick last time, finishing second over ten furlongs, just a half-length back from the winner. She jumped awkwardly, was bumped shortly after the start, overraced in the early stages and had to be steadied at the 1600M mark before being bumped at the 1500M pole and then finally coming five wide into the home straight. She returns from an 18-week absence but did finish fourth in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. From draw five, she is made the best bet on the day’s card.

CASCADIAN has his first run since a slightly shorter 17-week break and one barrier trial. He won his penultimate start over a mile and then finished third next time out over seven furlongs, just a neck behind the winner, despite having to be held up between the 250M and 75M marks. The form of that last race has been franked and from his gate seven, he could turn out to be the biggest threat to the top choice.

THINK IT OVER returns from an 18-week rest, but has had two barrier trials, winning the latest. He also won his penultimate outing, but in his case, over 1500M and then ended up in fourth place next time out over ten furlongs, one and a half lengths adrift of the victor, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly and not getting the clearest of passages in the home stretch. That was in the same race as the top pick and as the pair meet on the same weight conditions here, he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 9

ENTRIVIERE has an impressive record of seven runs for five wins and two second-place finishes. She missed out on her quartet of wins when finishing second in her latest start over six furlongs at this track, just a head behind the winner. The 5yr old mare overraced in the early and middle stages of that contest, but still managed to make good late progress over the latter stages. She returns from an 18 weeks rest and has not had a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and is draw the widest of them all in gate nineteen, but she is likely to be doing her best work late. Another honest performance from her seems on the cards.

TAILLEUR missed out on her hat-trick when ending up in eighth spot last time out over 1100M, seven and a half lengths behind the winner, but she only saw daylight at the 380M mark that day before finishing off her race well and the form of that race has proved to be strong with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She was immediately rested for 21 weeks and returns here without having had a barrier trial. If fit and well, she should not be overlooked in this line-up.

WRITTEN BEAUTY also resumes after a 21-week absence, but she has had two barrier trials, winning both of them. She jumped awkwardly and then overraced before finishing ninth last time out over six furlongs, 4.8L back from the winner and, as such, that effort is best ignored. Her overall form is solid and from a cosy draw two, she should be included in all bets.

Race 10

The powerful Chris Waller stable could complete the trifecta in this the last leg of the Jackpot, with the marginal top pick going to ATISHU. She is a 6yr old mare taking on males, but she secured her quartet of victories by winning her last start over ten furlongs by 1.8L. She seems to be a versatile sort having won over today’s journey three and four runs back. She has her first run for her new yard and returns from a 17-week rest, but she has had the two barrier trials, winning the latest.

BIGBOYROY has consistent formlines to his name, winning his penultimate run over a mile and then finishing second next time up over 1300M, just a head off the winner when returning from a 30-week absence. He was bumped shortly after the start in that race, so should be considered an unlucky loser.

NEW ARRANGEMENT had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 700M mark before staying on strongly to end up second last time out over this c&d. He will have to deal with draw eleven, but he should keep his stable companions honest.
