Race 4.

The day’s best bet, SNITZONFIRE has only had the four runs to date, but he reeled off his hat-trick before finishing fourth in his last start over six furlongs, but just one length behind the winner. He is drawn wideish in gate seven, but he gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he could prove hard to topple here. WISDOM OF WATER has posted two solid last runs, the latest when fifth over 1100M, 2.7L back from the winner, but he did jump awkwardly that day, before staying on well over the closing stages. From draw two, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. HEAD LEGISLATOR goes for his trio of victories after recording wins over 1300m and the latest over seven furlongs by 1.3L, this despite overracing in the middle stages. He hit the front at the 130M mark that day and the result was never in doubt from that point. The gelding returns from an 11 week rest, but he did finish third in his only barrier trial and his pole position is a plus.

Race 5.

KING OF SPADES has consistent formlines to his name and had nothing go his way last time out over 1500M when ending up in fourth place, two lengths behind the winner. He was bumped at the start, overraced in the early stages, hung out in the home straight and then finally, was bumped at the 75M mark. Under the circumstances, he did well to finish as close to the winner as he did. From draw five, he seems likely to turn in another honest performance today. EL PARMY put his disappointing penultimate effort firmly behind him when winning his maiden race last time out over 1500M by 0.8L, this at the fourth time of asking. He gets a wideish gate seven and takes on stronger here, but the form of that last race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. LUCKY TO WIN is drawn one outside the latter and tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in fourth spot last time out over a mile, just under four lengths adrift of the victor. He battled all the way down to the wire that day and should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

There are nine unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, COMMAND APPROVED may prove to be the best. He showed plenty of toe and then held off all challengers to win by 0.8L on debut over five furlongs. He faces a wide draw fifteen out of sixteen, but he should use that early gate speed to track across without expending too much energy. His stable companion, SPEAK NOW renews his rivalry with the top pick here. He made good late progress to finish that 0.8L second in the race mentioned above, but as the pair meet on the same weight terms today, he may struggle to reverse that last result, notwithstanding jumping from kinder draw ten. GENDARMERIE is a filly taking on the boys. She also finished second first time out, but over 1100M, four lengths back from the winner when friendless in the betting markets. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 7.

A 5yr old mare and a 3yr old and 4yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, MISS VALBONNE is taken to lead the pack home. She missed out on her hat-trick when finishing fifth last time out over 1100M, six lengths adrift of the victor and was immediately rested for 106 weeks. She returns here after putting in two encouraging barrier trials and the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them. From her cozy draw four, she will also have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause. RITA MAY has only had the two runs to date, finishing second on debut over five furlongs and then showing the expected improvement to win by 2.3L next time out over the same trip. She is a speedy sort who should use that fact to track across without consuming too much gas. TUDOR MUSIC did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, being denied a run at the 250M pole when finishing fifth last time out over five furlongs, 3.7L behind the winner. She has a far kinder draw than the latter in gate two and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, so should not be ignored.
