Race 3

With the late scratching of one of his main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet, ELECTRIC to chalk up his maiden victory at the second time of asking. He raced up with the leaders before finishing third when making his debut over six furlongs, just over a half-length behind the winner. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could prove difficult to topple here.

He gets gate seven and will have the cheekpieces fitted for the first time. BARRICHELLO showed improvement second time out when finishing third over this c&d, just a head behind the winner, despite jumping awkwardly. He is drawn one inside the top choice and could emerge as his biggest danger.

CHALKLEY has only had the four runs to date but has finished second on two of those occasions, one of them being last time out over this trip, 1.8L adrift of the winner. He stayed on well that day and from draw seven, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 4

KUTAYHA jumped awkwardly and was crowded at the nine-furlong pole before making good late progress to end up in third place last time out over ten furlongs, two lengths adrift of the victor. He has a wide gate eleven out of twelve, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the frontrunners over the closing stages.

ONEMORE SAPPHIRE finished strongly from some way back to end up second in his last outing over this c&d, just under a half-length back from the winner. That was his second consecutive runners-up berth in as many runs and from draw six, he will be looking to go one better today.

OFF HER ROCA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and finished fourth in her last start over a mile, 1.7L behind the winner. She came three-wide into the home straight that day but nevertheless stayed on well over the latter stages. She faces a wideish draw nine, but on the plus side, she will get 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

Race 5

EIGHT DIAMONDS is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has cracked pole position. She finished fourteenth last time out over seven furlongs. 11.3L back from the winner, but that was in a Group 1 event and the form of that race has been franked. It should be noted that she won over the c&d three runs back, and with now dropping considerably in class, she should give the boys a good run for their money. She does return from a 16-week rest but has finished third in her only barrier trial to prove her fitness.

EL BUENA followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a fifth spot finish next time out over six furlongs, 5.4L behind the winner, but he overraced in the early stages of the contest and the form of the race has stood up well with three runner subsequently winning. He has his peak run here after returning from a 15-week break.

EL COHETE showed solid improvement in his latest outing, finishing second over 1100M, one and a half lengths off the winner. He is drawn one outside the latter and has peak run after returning from a slightly shorter 14-week absence. He should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, CONFESSED is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she has only had the five runs to date which have yielded two firsts and two third-place finishes. The two victories have come in her last three outings, so she is bang in form. The latest win was over the seven-furlong journey, where she put one and a half lengths between herself and the opposition, this despite coming five wide into the home straight. She has her peak run after returning from a 22-week break and is drawn the widest in gate ten, but she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

JUNGLE BOOK won his penultimate run over a mile and the finished sixth next time out when stepping up to nine furlongs, just under two lengths behind the winner. He came the widest of them all into the straight that day and from his handy draw two, he should keep the top pick honest.

O’MUDGEE did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when ending up in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, 3.8L back from the winner. He jumps from gate four and should be right up there in the firing line.
