MISS UNITED STATES showed good improvement in her first run for the Juan Nel stable. She showed good speed and stayed on nicely to finish third. The daughter of The United States will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and from pole position, she should be the one to beat in this line-up.
Race 3: YOUNG NELSON (5)
Jockey: K Strydom – Trainer: Z oosthuizen
YOUNG NELSON has finished second in his last two starts on this course. He did not get off to the best of beginnings last time, but stayed on nicely to finish second. Apprentice Kyle Strydom steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, he may be rewarded for consistency.
Race 5: ABIA (5)
Jockey: M van Rensburg – Trainer: G Smith
ABIA was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D in this class. She took the lead at the 350m mark that day and was geared down in the run down to the line. She jumps from a good draw of two and with Marco van Rensburg retaining the ride, she should notch up her fourth career victory.
Race 7: AL QAASIM (6)
Jockey: M Yeni – Trainer: Z Oosthuizen
AL QAASIM finished 0.75 lengths behind GREENLIGHTTOHEAVEN last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He does have the widest draw to overcome but is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

DRIVE BY was not disgraced when finishing 3.25 lengths behind the winner in Male Company last time. The daughter of Rafeef is back against her own sex and jumps from a good draw of three. Mpumelelo Mjoka retains the ride and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
