NEWMARKET
Race 2 No6 ALLERBY
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: David Probert
ALLERBY has shown steady progression through the year to put in a career best when chasing home Spirit Of The Bay at Kempton last time. Back of turf today, he is in good order and fancied to open his account.
Race 7 No1 CAIRN GORM (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert
CAIRN GORM to end the winning spree of Boogie Time is the way this sprint may pan out. Cairn Gorm has twice shown a liking for this course and was unlucky when racing with three shoes in the race won by Blackrod last month. Cut in the ground brought about his downfall at the Shergar Cup, but he now his ideal conditions and should make no mistake.
THIRSK
Race 3 No2 STEEL AND ICON (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass
The ability to enjoy an uncontested lead has proved the hallmark of a fine season for STEEL AN ICON, who has delivered in five of her last eight outings. She goes well for Bass, who can again guide her home in a race in which she should be able to dominate.
Race 4 No7 CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Kevin Stott
CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD gets a new pilot following a couple of solid efforts in defeat. The ground was against him when he finished just out of the money at Newmarket last time, but underfoot conditions are set to be ideal here. At a track that’s proved lucky for his trainer this season, he can arrive late on the scene for a big earning run.
FFOS LAS
Race 2 No8 OUT FROM UNDER (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Trevor Whelan
OUT FROM UNDER has to go well in this novice if skipping his engagement on Thursday. The Dubawi colt was green on debut yet showed ability under sympathetic handling. That consideration from the saddle can manifest itself in notable improvement on this second start.
GOODWOOD
Race 2 No5 SPLENDENT
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Tom Marquand
Fast Company colt SPLENDENT was a 50-1 chance when troubling the judge on his Newmarket introduction and has pleased connections in his subsequent work at Whatcombe. He has a top pilot in the irons for what should be a popular conversion.
Race 3 No5 SINGLE
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
The jockey booking is again eye taking here, with Marquand aboard consistent filly SINGLE for the first time. The daughter of Nathaniel was a late scratch from her race last weekend owing to soft ground, but should find these conditions right up her street.
Race 5 No4 DALANIJUJO (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
The same trainer/rider combination can hit the target with DALANIJUJO who was also scratched from her race at Sandown owing to unsuitable going at the Esher track. She’s been a consistent performer for the stable, was unlucky in running in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and is overdue another win.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 5 No7 MAHRAJAAN (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Paul Hanagan
One of only two three-year-olds in the field, MAHRAJAAN will be a warm order to complete a fine hat-trick on handicap debut. He was up against trees when scoring by a near double-figure margin at Ripon but remains a good prospect and will be very hard to beat.
