BATH
Race 6 No5 VIVE LA DANSE (Nap)
Trainer: Jonny Portman – Jockey: Rob Hornby
VIVE LA DANSE gave it her all at Lingfield last week but was up against a well-weighted rival in Polar Ice. She lost no caste in that defeat, and with the cheekpieces she wore that day replaced by blinkers, can open her account under Rules back on turf.
Race 7 No3 RUBY COTTAGE
Trainer: Malcolm Saunders – Jockey: Gina Mangan
Consistent sprinter RUBY COTTAGE has raced almost exclusively at this course and knows the terrain like the back of her own hooves. She’s only once been out of the money in five visits, and after going close under a penalty for her July success can now regain the winning thread.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 6 No4 QUARANTINI (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Showcasing filly QUARANTINI raised her game to land some good bets at Ffos Las after being given time to settle in with her trainer. The application of blinkers helped bring about that success, while the chances are that there’s more under her bonnet. She also teams up with the champion jockey for the first time.
Race 8 No2 MANUMISSION
Trainer: David Evans – Jockey: Mark Crehan
MANUMISSION looks to hold the cards and can take out the nightcap. He’s done little wrong since joining the Evans stable in mid-summer, posting a cosy triumph at Chepstow and putting in a solid run when second on the all-weather. This looks a good opportunity for him to post a first win on an artificial surface.
UTTOXETER
Race 6 No1 SHIP OF THE FEN
Trainer: Ian Williams – Jockey: Liam Harrison
SHIP OF THE FEN gets a handy 5lb taken off his back by a good conditional rider and can make up for an uncharacteristic hurdle fall at Newton Abbot. He’s schooled well ahead of this first run over fences.
Race 7 No3 BROTHER PAT (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Theo Gillard
Fresh from his triumph in a novices’ handicap chase at Market Rasen, BROTHER PAT can remain unbeaten over fences in this similar contest for a trainer whose summer jumpers are tearing up the track. He looked far happier in this division than he was as a hurdler and probably has a lot more to offer.
WORCESTER
Race 3 No6 SHANTOU CHAMPAGNE
Trainer: Peter Bowen – Jockey: Sean Bowen
SHANTOU CHAMPAGNE pops off the page as the one to beat in the bumper after a couple of near-misses. The Shantou filly has an experience edge on her rivals which can be a useful asset in a tactical race, as this looks sure to become.
Race 5 No3 CORPORAL JONES (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
War Command colt CORPORAL JONES put up an eye taking effort on debut under Rules when second to Langafel at Market Rasen. This beautifully bred individual, who is out of a mare by Montjeu, is highly regarded in his stable and can go one better.
Race 6 No3 MORDRED
Trainer: Paul Webber – Jockey: Tom Scudamore
Jumps debutant Galata Bridge brings good form from the Flat to the table but it might be safer to go with the proven record over jumps of MORDRED, who has frame finished in back-to-back races at Stratford and Uttoxeter. The selection has learned from those pleasing efforts and can provide a welcome winner for his trainer.
Race 7 No4 DYLAN’S SEA SONG
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: James Davies
DYLAN’S SEA SONG bolted up at Stratford to make it two wins from her last three starts. The hooded seven-year-old should prove hard to beat from her revised mark.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 5 No1 FIRST ACCOUNT
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Billy Garritty
Three-times winning jumper FIRST ACCOUNT is a value option to the vulnerable Forza Orta in this novice stakes. The selection enjoyed a readying run on the Flat when troubling the judge at Catterick and could make things tricky for the favourite, who has posted four straight seconds.
