ASCOT

Race 2 JIM BARRY CUMBERLAND LODGE STAKES (Group 3)

No2 AL AASY(Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Jim Crowley

Having overcome a few training issues AL AASY is now operating at the top,of his game, and sets a standard in this historic race his rivals will do well to match. A Listed and Group 3 winner this year, he only narrowly failed to complete a hat-trick in a warm race in Ireland. He was a winner here last season and can add to his impressive wins to runs ratio.

Race 3 No1 COMMANCHE FALLS
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley

COMMANCHE FALLS a underwhelmed on his return to action at Doncaster but hasn’t looked back in seven subsequent outings in which he’s bagged two Listed races, a Group 3 and been placed in the others. He has a score to settle with VADREAM, who easily landed the Town Moor contest in March, but is more reliable than that soft ground reliant filly and should achieve it.

Race 4 No6 BLESS HIM (Each Way)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Hayley Turner

Plenty of collateral form lines to unravel in this good betting heat in which BLESS HIM can take away a cheque. The veteran was drawn on the wrong side of the course in the Wokingham, but on a line through BIGGLES has a good earning chance. RHOSCOLYN, ESCOBAR and ORBAAN are other old rivals that could get into the argument.

NEWMARKET

Race 1 No7 WHISPERING WORDS
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Ryan Moore

In a rare link with Godolphin, Moore can take out this competitive fillies’ handicap on WHISPERING WORDS. The Dubawi filly has less miles on her racing clock than the majority of her rivals, and after winning a novice here and finishing second in another at Kempton can excel on this switch to a handicap.

Race 2 No2 ZOULU CHIEF (Nap)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Gina Mangan

ZOULU CHIEF displayed telling all round pace to land a valuable nursery at York, form which entitles him (if repeated) to be very hard to beat in this equally engaging Sales race. The Zoustar colt is likely to try to make all, and should achieve it, though I would add ININCIBLE AURA into all exotic perms as he’s got talent and could improve for having his tongue tied down.

Race 4 VIRGIN BET SUN CHARIOT STAKES (Group 1)

No3 INSPIRAL
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Frankie Dettori

There’s been a lot of interest in the ante post market for this feature for French raider MQSE DE SEVIGNE. Any horse coming here trained by Andre Fabre needs respecting, and this daughter of Siyouni is the one who could give INSPIRAL plenty to think about. INSPIRAL looked very good when taking out the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville, and though rarely running two races alike is given marginal preference in a race her jockey would dearly love to win In his final season.

Race 5 No9 SISYPHEAN
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Cieren Fallon

Dubawi colt SISYPHEAN was only narrowly denied in a hot novice at the Ayr Western meeting. Well regarded by his trainer, he should make the further progress necessary to open his account.

REDCAR

Race 1 No7 MICKLEY (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

MICKLEY hails from a yard whose juveniles tend to improve a long way from their first run to their second. The son of Soldier’s Call attracted considerable support but could only post a midfield finish on his Newcastle introduction. However, he’s been working well and is likely to be a lot more streetwise and can do better.

Race 3 No9 DRAGON LEADER
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

DRAGON LEADER took out a valuable pot at the York Ebor Festival and can make this a second major triumph after losing his unbeaten tag at Doncaster. A longer trip coupled with soft ground contributed to that defeat, but he ran a cracker in the circumstances, and will start at prohibitive odds to put the record straight today.

Race 4 No5 KING OF LUCK (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

A speculative advice in this second division of the novice is KING OF LUCK. The New Bay colt has finished with more in front of him than behind in both outings at Newbury and Kempton but is capable of a better showing on this long journey from Newmarket.

Race 5 No4 JOHAN
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

JOHAN roared back to winning form when given a peach of a ride in the Golden Mile at Goodwood. Not without his issues, he has a touch of class that can manifest itself to help provide his trainer with a first Stakes winner in this Guisborough Stakes (Listed).

Race 6 No16 GIVE IT SOME TEDDY (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

This is a happy hunting ground for GIVE IT SOME TEDDY, a six times winner at the track. He’s not the most consistent of horses, but now returned to his favoured terrain can bounce back from a heavy recent defeat, and show he’s no back number.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 4 No9 TOO MUCH TREVOR (Nap)
Trainer: Alice Haynes – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

TOO MUCH TREVOR narrowly failed to justify strong support on his second start at Windsor when beaten hand a length by Cry Fiction. The Magna Grecia colt makes another step up the distance ladder on this third career start, and can prove too hot for these rivals to handle.

Race 5 No4 MISS MACH ONE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass

MISS MACH ONE looked out of her depth in the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury but should operate effectively on this nursery debut. Eased when her chance had gone that day, she brings good form to the table from her Windsor success, and worked well in her final gallop for this.
