LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No4 WYENOT (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Richard Patrick

The strongest race of its kind run this season, and stacked full of winners, can fall to WYENOT. The chestnut has shown with her clear cut successes at Ludlow and Kelso that she’s potentially out of the top drawer. In a field that includes a multiple scorer from Ireland in Only By Night as well as hat-trick seeking stablemates Pawapuri and Aston Martini she will have to be, but her trainer is well versed in getting the best out of this type of individual.

Race 3 Download The Racing App Now Lightning Novices’ Chase (Grade 2)

No2 MASTER CHEWY
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

MASTER CHEWY can settle a score with Djelo in a cracking trial for the Arkle Challenge Trophy. Djelo had the selection’s measure at Aintree where the result would have been different had the fences in the straight been eliminated owing to a low sun. Master Chewy then impressively landed the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase at Kempton, and adding allure to his claims is that stablemate Matata will ensure this is run at a true gallop. The race should therefore be set up for the strong travelling MASTER CHEWY to swoop to conquer.

Race 4 No4 FRERO BANBOU (Each Way)
Trainer: Venetia Williams – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch

If sound jumping counts for much, FRERO BANBOU can prevail in this sizzling two-mile handicap chase. The nine-year-old is yet to put his head in front this season but he’s done nothing wrong and run into some doughty opponents. This was especially true when he was beaten by the well-handicapped Shakem Up’Arry at Cheltenham. First Flow, Triple Trade and progressive Irish raider The King Of Prs have similarly strong claims but FRERO BANBOU is preferred.

Race 5 No2 GOWEL ROAD (Each Way)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

GOWEL ROAD has been highly tried since stepping up to the three-mile trip, finishing an admirable fourth to Slate Lane at Haydock and weakening at the business end of the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, won by Crambo. He’s therefore stepping down a rung on the class ladder and should revel in the underfoot conditions to earn in a strong betting heat in which Nurse Susan, Moka De Vassy and Angels Breath could also be involved.

Race 6 Fitzdares Fleur De Lys Chase

No3 IWILLDOIT (Each Way)
Trainer: Sam Thomas – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

L’Homme Presse sets out on the Gold Cup trail and will start at prohibitive odds, but if there was to be an upset IWILLDOIT could provide it. The veteran has shown in two outings this season that he’s retained the bulk of his ability and he was the only one to make a race of it with Nassalam in the gruelling Welsh National at Chepstow. This is his first visit to Lingfield over a trip that’s short of his best, but he’s in great form, while his accurate jumping can serve him well.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 3 No7 ONCE ADAAY (Nap)
Trainer: Mrs I Gandera-leveque – Jockey: Benoit De La Sayette

ONCE ADAAY can successfully defend a one-race unbeaten record at this course, and take full advantage of his position on the rail. He followed that gritty triumph in December with a near miss a Southwell, showing again how much he’d improved for the addition of a visor. This is the first time George Wood hasn’t been in his irons, giving De La Sayette plenty to live up to.

Race 5 No11 GUY FAWKES (Each Way)
Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam – Jockey: Kieran O’Neill

With few miles on his racing clock GUY FAWKES holds scope for plenty of improvement. He didn’t go unbacked when scoring on debut at Southwell, and though overturned as a 1-5 shot at this course was unsuited by the tactical nature of the race. Moving into the handicap arena in this big field with a true pace virtually assured, he can bring his A-game to the table.
