HEREFORD

Race 4 No2 CHANTILLY HAZE (Each Way)
Trainer: Phil Dando – Jockey: Mr Lewis Gordon

CHANTILLY HAZE is a handicapper reverting to maiden company who can play the experience card to good effect. She attracted support on several occasions last season and offers up value against the inexperienced Aston Martini. If there’s a hole in the paper favourite she’s the type that could exploit it.

Race 5 No9 SHEILA NASH (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: Oscar Palmer

SHEILA NASH has posted back-to-back earning efforts since undergoing a wind operation. Named after the grandmother of her former trainer Harry Whittington and owned by her son Chris Nash, she went well for her inexperienced pilot when third at this course last time, and should do at least as well.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 3 No6 SAO CARLOS
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

My best news in this novices’ hurdle concerns the once-raced and unbeaten SAO CARLOS. Part owned by Sir Alex Ferguson and carrying the silks of John Hales, the five-year-old hasn’t been seen since taking out a Market Rasen bumper on Boxing Day. By the sought after sire Blue Bresil, he has a tall reputation and can put his best foot forward.

Race 4 No1 SUPER SURVIVOR
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Sean Bowen

Snowden has every chance of landing this intermediate handicap chase and though Git Maker is chasing down a hat-trick he may have to give best to SUPER SURVIVOR. The selection has very good form in a limited career over fences, having beaten the talented Mister Coffey at Chepstow on Welsh National day. There was no disgrace in a subsequent defeat at Uttoxeter and he’s shown he can operate fresh.

Race 5 No4 OPERATION MANNA (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Cameron Iles

OPERATION MANNA stylishly landed some good bets at Sandown where he pulled relentlessly clear up the final hill. It was the third season in succession that the gelding had scored on his reappearance, and while he’s never managed to follow-up he can buck that trend in a race where everything appears to be in his favour.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No5 CERVARO DELLA SALA
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

CERVARO DELLA SALA has knocked on the door in each of her three starts including when chasing home Bella Bisbee over six furlongs here at the start of the month. Though not done any favours by the (high) draw, she has the overall pace to take care of business now back to the minimum trip, with Good Point looking a big danger.

Race 4 No1 CALM WATERS (Each Way)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

Most of those at the forefront of the market in this fillies’ novice stakes need to overcome high draws, but that’s not the case with CALM WATERS. The Make Believe filly wasn’t able to justify pronounced support on her Chelmsford introduction but has learned plenty from it, and enjoys the luxury of the rail in this contest of more than a lap of the track.

Race 5 No6 PABORUS (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: PJ McDonald

PABORUS posted a midfield finish on his debut at Thirsk from which he can now progress. Many of the juveniles from his stable have stepped up a fair way on second start, and he can prove a case in point in what looks a weak heat, though Juan Solo is one that can also figure.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 8 No4 EMMA EMILLEEN (Each Way)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

Lope De Vega filly EMMA EMILLEEN put in a career best when outflanked only by Hey Lyla at this course and now returns to a more suitably longer trip. In the well known Helena Springfield silks she can gain an overdue first career success.
