LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No5 BOANN (Each Way)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

BOANN responded to having her tongue tied down by opening her account at this course, beating a good yardstick in Miss Mach One. The Blue Point filly needs to overcome the widest draw on her first venture into a handicap, but could trouble the best of these if doing so. Nazron and Hint Of The Jungle rate her main threats in a wide open heat.

Race 4 No2 HIROMICHI
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop

HIROMICHI came to win his race only to fail to resist Tulekya when a well supported favourite at Musselburgh last week. The grey delivered over today’s course and distance earlier in the year, and should enjoy a return to Polytrack.

Race 7 No7 ITHACA’S ARROW (Each Way)
Trainer: Dominic Ffrench Davis – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

ITHACA’S ARROW hinted at a return to form when claiming a minor cheque at Newbury when Murphy was also in the saddle. There could be more progression to come from the chestnut, as this is only his fourth start on sand, while he posted his only career success here back in May.

Race 8 No11 EXPERT WITNESS (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Mark Todd – Jockey: George Rooke

Although underwhelming at Newmarket, Expert Eye filly EXPERT WITNESS has been given time to get over those exertions. She was only narrowly denied in a bunch finish on her previous outing at Leicester and is worth chancing to bounce back, as she has a good draw, and carded to start at a big double-figure price.

BEVERLEY

Race 2 No1 MIDDLESEX (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning

Having side-stepped a good opportunity last week, MIDDLESEX is of considerable interest now faced with an even better one. The Territories filly was a tad green on her earning first offering at Wolverhampton but is going to be more streetwise for this clash with the more experienced Really Darn Hot.

Race 3 No2 CIRCUS LION
Trainer: Bryan Smart – Jockey: Graham Lee

Several in this restricted novice have caught the judge’s eye and both Ziggy’s Condor and Gladly Ever After are previous winners. However, the claims of CIRCUS LION are also strong. He placed on debut at Hamilton, but more importantly chased home Townsend Manor at Redcar, form that puts him in with a major shout if repeated.

Race 7 No3 SEZAAM (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley

After a quiet 2023 campaign SEZAAM looked to be running into form when taking away a minor cheque at Carlisle. Beaten just half a length into third in a blanket finish, he was returning from a four month absence and the run should have put the cutting edge on him.

NOTTINGHAM

Race 1 No5 JUNGLE JIM (Nap)
Trainer: David Evans – Jockey: William Buick

Mashadi has had plenty of chances, while JUNGLE JIM raised his game to find only Boardroom to beat him on a second start at Thirsk. The Bungle Inthejungle gelding showed he likes to get his feet into the ground, and with conditions again in his favour can open his account.

Race 6 No11 DOUBLE OBAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Harry Davies

DOUBLE OBAN might not possess the kick of a large whisky but he certainly knows how to trouble the judge and pay his way, as his figures of 514423 bear out. With Davies in his saddle for the first time, the Territories gelding can stage another earning run at a fancy price.

Race 7 No7 EQUION
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Tom Marquand

EQUION will receive good service from the saddle as he bids to make this a third triumph from his last four starts. He doesn’t attract market support and has started between 22-1 and 10-1 on those four occasions, but with top pilot Marquand now doing the steering he could easily top the betting for this finale.

NEWCASTLE

Race 5 No8 BLENHEIM STAR (Nap)
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Ben Curtis

BLENHEIM STAR showed promise to trouble the judge on debut at Lingfield which makes her the go-to horse in this first division of the maiden. Horses from the Palmer stable invariably improve a long way from their first outing, and this daughter of Churchill can prove a case in point today.

Race 6 No2 MICKLEY (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

The MICKLEY colours have been carried with distinction by a number of horses from the Bethell yard, including multiple scorer Coverdale. This son of Soldier’s Call has shown promise in his build up to this introduction, and might know enough to deliver at the first time of asking.
