GOODWOOD

Race 2 No4 RHOSCOLYN
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Jason Watson

RHOSCOLYN has scored on two of his last three starts at this course over the seven furlongs and was in no way disgraced when just out of the money in a hot handicap at Leopardstown won by Broadhurst. Back in calmer waters for a trainer whose horses are in as good form as at any time of the season, he can make his long journey from North Yorkshire a rewarding one.

Race 3 No8 TIRIAC (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Kevin Stott

TIRIAC hasn’t in four 2023 races so far managed to endorse the potential he showed in a select juvenile campaign when he was a runaway winner at Doncaster. However, he’s been working with more exuberance of late and if able to dominate could take some catching.

Race 4 No3 MY PROSPERO (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

The featured Foundation Stakes presents MY PROSPERO with a gilt-edged opportunity to record a first success of the year. Last season’s Champion Stakes third gets the easy underfoot conditions he prefers, and should go one better than his narrow defeat when last seen in the Sky Bet Stakes at York.

Race 6 No8 ALBANY
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby

The beautifully bred ALBANY should hold the whip hand over her rivals in this fillies’ handicap. She’s progressed from race to race this season and was hugely impressive when opening her account at Windsor to qualify herself for handicaps, an area of the racing spectrum in which she can do well through the autumn. She appeals as a filly to follow.

REDCAR

Race 4 No10 RISING BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald

Doom was turned over as a 1-25 shot in a two-runner affair at Ripon to create her own piece of racing history. It’s something this talented filly can put behind her, but on this occasion she might find herself playing second fiddle to RISING BAY, who has good form to her name and will be hard to beat as long as she consents to settle.

Race 5 No8 HIGHWAYGREY
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

HIGHWAYGREY is sometimes given a lot to do as was the case when he came from the tail of the field to narrowly miss out on a cheque at York. He wasn’t suited by the tactical nature of the race on his latest visit here, and if drawing a line through it he firmly enters calculations.

PERTH

Race 1 No4 STADIUM TALK (Nap)
Trainer: John McConnell – Jockey: Ben Harvey

STADIUM TALK can with a triumph in this mares’ novices’ hurdle add to her trainer’s good record at the track. The five-year-old is a point winner in Ireland and since joining McConnell has landed a Perth bumper and a maiden hurdle at Wexford. This is a strongly contested race, but she can bring to an end the unbeaten record of El Elefante.

Race 4 No6 PARK ANNONCIADE
Trainer: Stuart Crawford – Jockey: Daryl Jacob

PARK ANNONCIADE has looked a more rounded performer since switching to hurdles. He took care of business in tidy fashion to open his account under Rules here last time, and can use that knowledge of the track to stage a repeat.

Race 6 No7 SOLWAY MOLLY
Trainer: Lisa Harrison – Jockey: Thomas Dowson

SOLWAY MOLLY posted a near miss here in the summer before chasing home a wide-margin winner at Catterick. Although finishing out of the money on her latest visit to Schone Park she was beaten a little more than six lengths and the run is better than it looked. She remains relatively exposed over jumps and can bounce back.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No6 HAPPY HADEDA (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Egan

Although he doesn’t saddle many two-year-old winners Morrison looks to have an exception to that rule in HAPPY HADEDA who finished off her race well, when second at Newbury, and on this third start should know what’s required to get the job done. Being out of a mare by Pivotal means she can handle easy conditions on turf, but she’s worked well on an all-weather surface at home and is well-drawn for this sprint.

Race 4 No5 OUTGUN (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Charles Bishop

OUTGUN hasn’t enjoyed the rub of the green in two of his three outings in handicaps and skipped an opportunity last week to wait for this. Each of his three races last year happened at this venue, and by placing twice the grey demonstrated that he handles Polytrack. He attracted a good amount of support when beaten at Newmarket last time, and can recoup the losses.

Race 5 No7 NADER KING
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

NADER KING failed to menace at the Goodwood Festival after a win and two places on his other outings this year. The Camelot colt has been given time to get over those exertions and as a lightly-raced three-year-old there could be more to come from him.
